HELP~ Windows Problem After BF2 Optimization

Okay, heres the story. I read some threads a while ago about optimizing battlefield 2 by removing prefetch junk and defragmenting my hard drive. After that, my computer wont shut down. Everytime when I want to shut down the computer, it freezes on me during the last process where it says "Windows is shutting down..." So when I manually press the restart switch, it wont load up windows! It would give me the windows loading screen (blue bars running around on a black backgorund with windows logo, you know what i mean ), then it would go all black on me. No mouse cursors, no errors, nothing. I have tried system restore but its not working. Can anyone give me some advice here? Your help is GGGGGGGRRRRRRREEEEAAAAATTT-ly appreciated XD

If my computer specs is needed, here it is:
    P4 3.0GHz w/HT 800FSB (oc to 3.3GHz)
    ASUS P4P800 Motherboard
    1GB DDR400 RAM (2x512 dual channel)
    Maxtor 80GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
    eVGA GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP8x
    SoundBlaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1

Last things done to the computer before the mess happened:
    Delete "prefetch" folder items
    Defragment Computer

when you reboot your PC press & hold F5 (till it beeps then let go) this will bring you to a boot screen where you can choose various options the one you want to try is 'Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)' works majority of the time,

the problem is that it happens ALL the time. Even if i use last known configuration, it will still freeze during shut down... But thanks for the start up advise.

exactly how long is this freeze up? is its getting on for 45 minutes before you press restart?, or are you just impatient and u r clicking restart after 10 seconds? your pc could be shutting down ya know, some can take 3 or 4 minutes to clear out any tasks b4 actually shutting down. so if its 30 miutes, there is defo a problem, if its more like 20 seconds, u need to wait

          Try this:

          1. Start Regedit.
          2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control.
          3. Click on the "Control" Folder.
          4. Select "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"
          5. Right click on it and select Modify.
          6. Set it to a value lower than 2000, say 1000 as a test.

um... I waited for an hour and still no responds from the screen. I know it freezes because my mouse cursor did not move and my hard drive noise stopped (the noise that hdd makes when its being used). My WaitToKillServiceTimeout value is 20000, ill set it to 1000 and see if it works or not.

Last Known Good only works if you haven't been able to log into Windows. Windows sets the last session where you succesfully logged in, as the Last Known Good configuration.
