Lod's (level of detail) usually refer to different versions of the same 3d model, Homeworld used three, a high quality one of upto 1000 polys when zoomed in close a middle poly one and a low one of 100 polys or so which you saw when the model was seen from a distance. Basically stops the card rendering extra details that you cant see due to the distance the model is from you, dont know what the idea of a negative lod bias is, random guess is it only uses the low quality versions of things but maybe just high poly versions- id guess that'd be wrong though.

My 7800's are just on the default settings, never tried tweaking anything (aint broke so i aint going to fix it). I cant say i notice much difference at lower resolutions but the sli deffinately kicks in big time when you up the res. I get 50-60 fps at 1600xsomething with everything turned up in BF2, so at 1280xanything i doubt the cards are even breaking a sweat. Deffinately turn vsync off though, pointless resource whoreing option.
Just out of curiosity did you get the cards at the same time and if not do they both have the same bios versions?

Yeah I am definately limited right now, as either on my monitors max out at 1280x... so from what I understand the real signinficant differences are going ot be more apparent in upper res's like 1600+.

They are both EVGA 78GT's... I asked a tech if I should flash them with the same bios and he said definately not. It shouldn't matter as they are the same stock speed of 470/1100. Plus with that EVGA motherboard I am pretty much guaranteed compatibility.

I have to disagree with you on the V-Sync though... I know it taxes the setup more, but I can't stand all the tearing that occurs without it. I am conducting tests with & without though so I can be accurate in judging performance gains. It isn't as significant in BF2... but in games like COD2 or Unreal 2K4 it makes a huge difference.

I am looking into getting a really nice 20" CRT for gaming, as I have been disappointed with every LCD's performance I have tried. Including the Viewsonic VX922, Dell 2005FPW & 2405FPW. All disappointed, but that VX922 definately gave the fastest performance I have ever seen for a LCD. It just had crappy pixel pitch... like looking through a screen door.
