What makes a good bf2 player

I have been playing bf2 since it came out and I have lived through all the good times and LoL, the bad times of it.(patch 1.2) And I think I have figured everything out that makes a good bf2 player. First of all a good player would be someone who is a jack of all trades, meaning can play any kit and get positive results no matter what the situation is. Second, a good player usually takes the role as a leader other than being a follower, and gives orders out and does everything he/she can to help the team to victory. Another thing a good player must be smart and clever, such as kowing when to rush a flag and when to stay back and play it safe. And also tries to flank the opposing force alot. A good player usually knows most of the maps and all the choke points and strategic points on it and uses them to give his/her team an advantage. And lastly I think a good player does everything possible to survive and uses his/her environment and tools to accomplish the objectives.

Those are all the things I think that makes a good bf2 player, If you don't agree just add some stuff that you think makes a good player.:) I'm just trying to help the community out and I know there are ppl here that know alot more about the game than I do and I want you to also post your thoughts about what makes a good player. Thx.:)

a good player is indeed a good alrounder, not only a good leader, but also a player who folows his orders (if orders aren't stupid, like "attack here" when your three man squad as infantry should have to take a flag where 5 tanks are, or "demolitions here" commander says to destroy enemy assets while you are on other side of map) .

Or my favorite, orders to repair commander's assets when your main base is captured by the other team.

You can also split this up into two groups.

            1) A good pub player

            2) A good competition player

Pubs: It's hard to find a good player because you're playing with the masses and a lot of people welll... stink. I've lost count (actually never tried to keep track because there's so many) of all the dumb people that play this game. I don't know how many maps of Karkand I've played where the entire server is a herd of cows at hotel. No flanks, no nothing.

A good player is also someone who knows their own strengths and weaknesses as a player. A prime example I can think of is, if you don't have a 10:1 (or close) ratio in a tank or any armor, get out of it. I've seen guys get in tanks, get 1 dang kill and then die. I've seen people in armor that go negative, which is sad.

Pubs are just watered down competiton to me. It's rare for me to find a player that just catches my eye, I see a lot of below/average people.

A good pub player instinctivly (sp) knows how to run certain maps. A good pub player is someone who is smart and doesn't just get tunnel vision. A good pub player is someone with a good shot, teams up with other people to win. Basically anyone that can dominate.

As for competiton, it's more about roles. Everything isn't so random in comp as it is in pubs. Pubs can sometimes be total chaos. 1) because there are a bunch of average/not good people and just herd up. 2) you have morons. and 3) there is a serious lack of communication.

In competition, there is a common goal and the team does what it takes to win. You have to be extremely skilled and smart. You have to know when to push and when to play defensive. The ability to communicate easily with your fellow players via TS or Vent makes it A LOT better and provides for more fluid gameplay compared to pub anarchy.

            So...

To me a good player is someone who:

-Knows what they can and can't do
-Has tremendous skill in all areas, be it infantry, armor, air
-Is smart and knows how the game works
-Someone who is out there to win and not worrying about their stats.

To be honest, players with these attributes are primarily found in the competition realm, and even then, some guys who compete aren't very good. But it's just a generalization.

And not to start a flame war, but the best players are competition players. If you take guys that just play for "fun" and pub it up vs competition, the pub's will get owned. Pubbing it is totally different and can mislead viewpoints about being good.

              A good overall BF2 player -
A player, who even in prefering one aspect of the game to others, does not state that its the only legit way to play the game.

Re: What makes a good bf2 player

Well, ive played BF2 for 1500H, yea i sound like a geek now lol...

I cant say im a good player but i know im not an average player. I personally like to follow orders although id like bf2 to be more FPS, I have played some matches against Nr1. of the Netherlands but theyre just the ordinary players, people who go out with the 203 and smack some tards. Offcourse we won. U need more skills to take out the specialists..

Back to topic lol, what was this about :S?
I think the squad members need more skills than the SL.. simply cus the SM do the work, SL's have the brain SM's have the skills. Thats what completes a team!

Re: What makes a good bf2 player

There is no point in comparing competition to pubs. The diiffernce of play would be self evident. That said, I am a pub player. Yes, I play for fun and my stats suck. They suck largely from the learning process, but I am improving my techniques etc. Only once I can dominate the points on a consistent basis, then I may try competition and get owned. Ahhh yes, the learning cycle all over again:p

                      1) Be a team player. Don't be the **** that takes off in a transport to get "back in the action" with three guys screaming for a ride. If you are a bag dropping class, do your job in your squad. Drop the bags, help your team, even if it conflicts with your ego

                      2) Be a leader of a squad if you choose to, but dangit join an existing squad instead of making a mess of single leader groups.

                      3) Have a plan. If you are playing a class, join a squad that needs the class if one exists. Ask for orders if you do not have a plan.

                      4) Don't be a whiner. If you get fragged alot supporting your team, live with it. If you are frozen with fear of you your K/D ratio, get off the pubs.

                      5) Live with the fact that your ego may be bigger than your skillz. If you feel like your side is a bunch o' slackers, dump the server and go to a server that will appreciate you.

                      6) If you are a squad leader, please try to be a squad leader. I seen very few folks that can dogfight and lead a group of assault soldiers at the same time.

                      7) If you are a commander, be a commander. There are many other posts discussing this. On small maps I can understand commanders in combat. On larger maps, give the orders. If you think all your squads are idiots, feel free to give up the command chair for a while. On pubs, this happens - sure wish it didn't though
