Well at least they're saying it will be released this year now, and cost $500. The last report i read was that it was delayed until after christmas and was going to launch at $800-$900. I was thinking that at that price they may as well not release it at all. $500 is tolerable though.

Well finally some offical news from Sony, all the other crap we've heard in the past few months was from people thinking they knew something.

60 GB harddrive
Linux supported
4x speed BR drive
Free online (at least basic)
November launch world wide
Price at least 50.000 yen

I imagine the games will be pretty expensive. (more so than the Xbox / dvd based games)
I am only basing this on some of the costs talked about with the Blue Ray disks. And last I saw... the disk alone was pretty dang expensive.

6 months is a long time to wait but, it should give us enough time to get the $500. Hopfully there is only one version of the PS3 that comes with the HD. I mean Xbox HD costs $100 by itself now we have to get a 60 gig that is specially made, man thats gonna cost alot.

I also think the games are gonna be quite alot, since they can hold alot. but that means that games like GTA can have good gameplay and good graphics.

Sony announced that the printing of BR discs is just as expensive as printing dual layer DVD's so the games will probably be priced the same.

I think games will start to cost a little more, but not too much. I've read somewhere to expect to pay between $60-$80 U.S. But who can say? Not very much of whats been reported so far has turned out to be true.

Seeing that games are the number one sources of profit they can't afford to ask alot more for them than what they cost now or people won't buy as many of them.

If you want one, you're still going to be paying $900. When it's released it will be limited in supply so unless you camp outside a store for 2 months, you aren't going to get one. Everybody that did camp out for 2 months will have there's on ebay for $900. By the time the PS3 comes out, xbox360's will be everywhere for $300 as well. The PS3 will be under the rich kid's tree while every one else will have a xbox360 and Halo 3 under theirs.

Sony is going to be losing money for so long. They may never see profit since the PS3 basically just has a 7900 GTX.

I'm sure i'll still be playing BF2 till PS3 is being sold for $99.99....It takes me a LOOOONNNGG time to get tired of a game....right now BF2 is the shiznizzy in my book

you must pay for online gaming and it will cost i thougth 60 $ for 3 gamers

and 100 $ for more

the 60 GB HDD is a sony investment, because you will be able to download things for money ofcours

the PS3 comes here in EU after x-mas, so 360 will lower the price , bring the HD-DVD expension kit and maybe the 360 eyetoy style camera

and i personally believe more in xbox live , because of the succes and the future ! ( with M$ XNA it is possible to get 30,000 people on 1 game, spectation tought, but the idea )

to talk about microsofts XNA, game devs can now make 1 game at the same time for the PC and 360 ! with debug kits etc., this will make pc and 360 very intresting because the production costs lowers !

and then the Hardware, i believe that the CPU of ps3 is very good but the GPU , nah, 360 has a better GPU i think with those unified shaders etc.

If that's all true, PS3 really is screwed. They have some nice technology with Blue Ray and Cell, but they are pricing things way too high. By the time the prices are down, that technology won't mean **** since cpus are making some advanced moves soon. Arrogance will kill Sony.

ps2 proved last time round that being released first gives you a huge headstart sony will have to work their socks off to win this time round
