Regarding the Benelli M4 (M-1014) shotgun

This idea struck me while posting to another thread.

How many people would like to see the Jackhammer (a shotgun that never went beyond prototype stages) replaced with the Benelli M4 JCS (The shotgun currently being switched to by the USMC) in vanilla BF2?

I ask because its a great weapon, and seems more useful than the insta-empty jackhammer.

Oh god me, I love that Benelli. Most of the time when I play Eng I'll end up using the single shot pump action shotty's, me and my friends call it the Samurai Shotgun. You get one shot in most fights :P.

I think a lot of the Sf unlocks should be replaced with corresponding EF kit/weapons

the benelli is very, very nice, i usually pick the pump shotty in vbf2 anyways, not a big fan of the jackhammer, but the benelli is definitely a great weapon

Actually, what I'd really like to see is people being able to choose their set of unlocks. Basically you'd only have 1 set of unlocks and it would be composed of whichever combination of plain/SF/EF guns you wanted. I'd really like to have some of the EF guns to keep :P.

This is a great idea, but EA/Dice mentioned somthing about an engine limitation on how many weapon models the game could handle.

Don't forget, its not just the weapon, sounds, and data that have to live in memory but all of the associated player animations too.

I don't think many weapons have their own player animations, most assault rifles could fit in the same one as could LMGs and sniper rifles, seems like they would figure out a way around this cause I want more guns :P

But what would happen to the Jackhammer? Anyway the new shotgun owns, it would be cool if you could use like differant shots in it, like the stat thing says it can.

The shotgun your talking about is the euro one right?

Yeah part of the reason it was adopted was that you can switch ammo on the fly without adjusting the gas system.

On many auto-loading shotguns theres a knob near the muzzle that has to be adjusted depending upon the ammo type (low recoil loads will fail to operate the action otherwise).

To put it simply, the removal of the Jackhammer would cause me to leave this game. Yes I love it that much. I find it to be in the right hands(mine!) to be an incredibly potent and fun weapon, and it is nice to have a unique unlock, rather than just another pump-action shotgun.
                            So, the answer is NO!!!!!!!!

i play engy alot but i voted NO.
It's called balance. Engy shouldn't own infantry fight unless it's close Qt combat, then engy got a chance to win. If Benelli+M4 owns, the rest of the class/weapons will be useless and this game will be less fun to play.
