As far as the 'noob commander' taking your gold, are you 100% sure he didn't do anything? No supply drops, no uav, no arty?

A good commander is one you don't see on the scoreboard all the time, its a support role. I'll usually only command on VoIP enabled servers, much easier if you can talk to the troops here & there...surprising how easy it is to get someone to stop a flanking squad when you piont it out in VoIP as you're spamming it in the comm/chat channels.

Just use your assets as they recharge, try not to go for easy kills w/arty and tk 1/2 your team, provide supplies and other things as requested, and defend your main.

I've gotten a good number of stars by commanding and I'm no n00b. So don't pidgeon hole all COs.

Having said that, unfortunately, what you say is true...if the team is a good one, scores well and wins the round, a CO can do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and still earn a lot of points. This is one reason the mutiny capability was put into the game but it needs to be revamped so it is easier to get rid of a crappy CO.
