I noticed after defragmenting BF2 has been lagging quite a bit which is quite annoying. Can anyone shed any light on this problem?:)

Re: Does defragmenting cause lag?
What do you mean by lag? Are you talking about your ping/connection, or your FPS as in your screen is stuttering around.
Either way, defragging should not have any adverse affect on your performance.Comment

Re: Does defragmenting cause lag?
My old Windows 2000 machine would get worse after each Defrag. My dad's office computer has gotten to the point of not being usable immediately after his last defragment. So yeah, I have seen it happen, not with XP as the operating system, but who knows.Comment

Re: Does defragmenting cause lag?
true unless if ur doing it while playing BF2 at the same time then yes it will cause problems, but who would do that honestlyOriginally posted by TalusMoved to support.
Defragmenting should actually HELP your system performance. I defrag after every BF2 patch or driver upgrade/shadow optimization.
It will NOT cause lag.Comment

Re: Does defragmenting cause lag?
when u defrag ur PC its recommended not to use the PC, if u start using ur PC whilst its trying to sort the files so the system can locate them easier its guna obviously lag, as its most likely using 100%CPU usage.Comment
