    Win2K users & EA Downloader

For those of you that are like me and still using Win2K Pro. You are completely out of luck if you want any Expansion from the EA Downloader. EA Downloader will only accept Win XP OS. Yes, you can down load the EA Downloader but you can only install 99% of it before it flags with you this issue. This has been a growing trend by EA to force the issue to gear their programing towards Win XP over the past month. First noticeable program was Battle For Middle Earth 2. Turns out that BFME2 does run on Win2K if you hex-edit out one line of code but that is a different story.

In short guys you need to up grade your OS. I personally am going to hold out for Vista or find another way to purchase the expasion and install it (legally)

    WHT?

    Over the past month?

Look, it says on the box that BF2 only works with XP.

It's a pity that the EA Downloader doesn't work but it's not as though they are cheating you or anything.

Naw they aren't cheating me out of anything really ..just need to up-grade my OS. Btw: I rechecked my BF2 DVD box and found nothing on needed OS. If I remember right they had that placed via security sticker. Plus after running the BF2 Demo I never thought to even look to begin with.

After building my new system I haven't had to worry about checking for OS which is about the last thing I need to up-date.

      Oh well

Think of the poor XP64 users who get the exact same error :)

Isn't there a way of installing something on W2K yet fooling the system into thinking it's a compatible file?

I dnloaded the EA Downloader onto my x32 box then moved it over to my x64 to install worked fine (dnloaded before SF came out dont know about any recent version). The EA web site would not dnload it onto my x64 Windows but it installed OK.

X64 Windows rocks I will never go back to 32 bit.
