Does the EA Downloader NEED to be on the PC the game will be installed on?

My Gaming Rig is separate from my "main" everyday PC.
I don't like to installed unnecessary stuff (Like downloaders and such) on the game PC.
Obviously Steam has to be an exception because it's required to play HL2 and such.
    What about the EA downloader?
Can I install it on my Main PC, download Euro Force (Saved to a Network Shared folder) but install it on my game PC?
I couldn't find a FAQ about it anywhere.

    Thanks

It does not need to be running to play the game so I guess it will work OK.

You can download the files on any machine and then move them to any other computer and install from there.

Look here for the files to copy:
      Code:
      C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Downloader\cache\<Your EA Username>\eagamesbf2-2006online_map_contentbf2euro

That's not what I was asking.
I want to download the game on 1 PC and install it on another.
I do not want to install the Downloader on my Gaming PC if I don't have to.

And thats what I told you, if it does not need to be running then common sense would say it does not need to be on a PC to play so you can copy onto another PC (without installer) and play.

It seems 'I guess it will work ok' and 'here is the exact answer and exact instructions to do it' are two different answers

Your original statement implied nothing about another PC. You only mentioned that the downloader didn't need to be running to play the game. That by itself does not tell me anything about installing it on another PC or imply that it can be done. I guess my 'common' and your 'common' have nothing in common.

yes you can as EF merges in with bf2 vanilla program as theres no exe file to boot the program,EAloader an EF are to different programs that run with bf2 vanilla,
so you can have the EA loader where you like,
i have my game on one hd 80raptor 10.000rpm as its faster for loading an game play.
an i have ea loader on my spare hd.

OK...Why is everyone except Talus missing this important point.
Even with the 2 parts existing on different HDD's, they're still on the SAME PC
My question was whether I can Run the Downloader and DOwnload the Game on 1 PC, and install the game on a 2nd PC (TOTALLY DIFFERENT PC FROM THE ONE WHERE THE DOWNLOADER DOWNLOADED THE GAME)

                  Sheesh

i just answered the question my 2nd hd is in the same pc but not running as windows its a spare.
so if you got ur 2nd pc wired up to ur gaming pc then the answer is yes.:p
if your not connected to the othe pc then obvisouly the answer is NO.
just make a connection to the other pc the same way you would when file sharing from one pc to another

OK...Let's get technical then shall we...
Normally I download my game and programs to my File server which is shared to the 4 networked PC I have in my house. So in essence yes...My game PC is 'wired up'.
I want to save (or Move) the EF download to my server and install it to my Game PC from there.

What's great about this thread is that Talus answered my question but I'm still 'going at it' with you people because obviously what I'm doing is completely foreign to some people.
What's happened to this community? (BF). We all used to be fairly good 'tech-heads' back in the day. Has BF2 pulled in too many console and young gamers who know so little about PC's?

Well, like you, I love having absolute control over my files, software, and hardware.

I don't like software companies telling what to do and how to do it

which ever pc ya got ya bf2 on thats where the ef will run from it merges with it as i found out last night due to some problems gettin it to run.
there is NO exe file so no you cant not run it from a different system it needs to be on the same system as bf2 vanilla.
but you can start it from another pc usin the EA LOOADER as long as you pc's are connected.
there hope this helps a bit more because other than that i aint got a clue what ya on about.
an its a good way to go gettin help if ya just moan about lol

to do that you need to reinstall it on all pcs as it shares the bf2 game its not a stand alone game as i said it merges in with bf2 vanilla

i have the same setup too. the problem is the downloaded booster pack has an .eac extension which needs the EA downloader to "unzip". after "unzipping", the downloader creates a folder with the necessary installation files (which include a setup.exe file and a .cab file which is about 380 megs). afaik, without the EA downloader, you cannot "unzip" the downloaded booster file, so imo, you'll need to have the EAD on your gaming rig. that's what i did, after installing, i copied the folder with the setup.exe files onto a cd and deleted that folder from the EAD folder on my gaming rig. hope this helps. sorry if i've misunderstood your predicament.
