I dont think anyone likes the night maps, I personally dont.

The whole SF just seems rushed and not really worth of playing, When I bought it I was hoping to fly down into an enemies base on a zipline, shoot at enemy mid flight on his own zipline etc.

It just feels unfinished, the frame rate is pathetic aswell.

The maps arnt thought out very well, especially that one with the carrier. Worth performing map. It seems when EA makes these maps/expansion packs they have teamwork in mind, and last time I checked that word doesnt exist on public servers.

      SF is fantastic, but.....

      1. The night maps never worked for me. I admin a SF 64 server from day 1 until the other day, and the night maps used to be the least popular.

      2. The video lag problem you get in the chopper on some maps spoils that part of the game.

      3. No future support (patches) for SF means EA are saying "forget it".

Great game but move on now me says and thinks.

Re: Why Is Sf Less Played Then Bf2

I think for most of the people it is because of:
        - the night maps (which I don't understand cause I love them)
        - the bigger lag
        - the fine new unlocks which you can't use unless SAS or seals (I get the sense of those unlocks being part of just one army but I still would prefer tho pick the weapon I like no matter what army or map I'm playing)
        - SF seems to be more about teamwork (benefits me but obvious not everybody)
        - things like arty, tanks and attack helos just don't fit into a secial forces operation

I still love to play SF not just Warlord and Ghosttown, not just the day maps but the whole package and I feel so sorry to see less and less SF servers every day.

i dont understand it. There are only like 350 servers running SF at anytime compared to the 1600 I see for BF2 ( keep in mind my filters for ranked, PB, ets.) I love all the maps except the night maps, and even then I think they are challenging but I am too lazy to learn to fight with night vision, the gas mask and grappling hooks are enough for me. I like surge and mass destruction the best. i don't know why so few people are playing it. i have a great time. I love the Hind gunship. Awesome!

as long as there are high point servers still around with warlord im happy :)
its fun and plenty enough people play it so 350~ servers is fine by me.

Performance, especially inside multi-level/floor buildings, is crap.
Night maps are badly thought out.
People feel the original game was incomplete in the first place an didn't want to buy an expansion to get the amount of content you'd expect in a single game.
It was released when the game was extremely buggy (nothing's changed, though).
Some feel they have already been screwed by EA with a semi-finished game and the mass of large patches which have had to be released in order to create more problems than they solve, and so don't want to give them more money.
And, for the jet whores: there are no jets.

                Night maps suck.

Teamwork doesn't exist on Pub servers.

Zip Lining and Grapple Hooking are only available to select classes and those classes (excluding Spec Ops) don't really need them. Sniper with a Zip line? Why would a Sniper want to go down instead of finding higher ground?

Also, SF requires more graphics-card power and RAM to process the urban environments, and not everyone wants to jump up and spend loads of cash just to play an expansion.

Lots of reasons, all mentioned above. The big killer for me is performance of the game.

From an admin's POV, needing a completely different server for SF really kills it. EA went out of their way to make sure people wouldn't play SF by requiring a different server. We can't even run a booster/expansion server because EF can't be played on SF. I can see Euro Force being a little bit more popular because it can be played on a normal BF2 server, if they can get that downloader crap sorted out.

I don't play SF because of the HORRENDOUS bug that cripples my ability to pilot attack choppers in SF maps. It's my mini-boycott..problem is, I've already paid for it

The performance of SF maps is also crap for me compared to vanilla.

Also, I hate having to restart BF2 to load a SF map

My reasons (and I think the most popular reasons for not playing):

                        1. I lag. BAD.
                        2. I can't use my favorite unlocks.

I LOVE Special Forces. I play it nearly 100% of the time since it came out.

The only reason why i still play Sharqi is because of the new L96 and P90. Otherwise, i wouldnt play BF2 anymore.

Special Forces was marketed as allowing people to use ziplines and grappling hooks on vanilla BF2 also! The first day of game play (well first few hours) you could do this. Then they introduced a patch that you needed before you install SF, which no longer allowed this. Same with tear gas. The before that patch, you could use all the add ons from special forces. Then they took em back.

                          I prefer SF thus far.

SF is superior in every way, shape, and form aside from it having some performance issues in terms of framerate compared to vanilla. I've been playing it since release, and refuse to ever go back to vanilla/vanilla boosters. They're simply inferior in terms of tactics and pure fun. Oh yea, and ehrm, no jet jocky idiots to kamikazee into my HIND! Pure bliss.
