Re: Why Is Sf Less Played Then Bf2

I play BF2:SF once in awhile. My main reasons why I don't really like BF2:SF that much is that you cannot play it on a "regular" server. Wouldn't it be great to have a server that switches between BF2 - BF2:SF - BF2:EF ??
The next point are definately the night maps. They are OK, but strange you know. The Helo's !! The TV GUIDED missile camera sits way too far down. Not compared to the AH1Z and the Mi-28 - Just an awesome view to shoot some missiles. The Lag in the game. Sometimes I have a killer lag on that one russian map, and then it's fine again. I have no clue what it is cause I ran a AMD64 4000+ with 2GB of RAM and I have a GeForce 7800 GTX 256 MB. For another reason I die way too much on BF2:SF, and I would say I am a little bit above average as a player. All together, it just feels weird playing BF2:SF.
Another thing that bothers me is that the British and the russians don't really have that much on their own. British and Russians use the weapons of the MEC or USMC you know what I mean ? A little bit more "FOR THEM" would be nice. Too bad that there is not that much support from EA/DICE for BF2:SF.
Probably another main reason why some people turned their backs from BF2:SF

Too bad, great potential just wasted !

Because FPS performance is so terrible compared to Vanilla BF2 and EU.

Piloting Helicopters is impossible due to consistent stutter.

        Fix this EA/DICE.......

As mentioned, if you are steering away from jets and very limited helo action then definitely buy SF. The darker maps make for some interesting gameplay also. It's great to mix it up some between the two.

One of the main reasons I bought the game was feedback from clan members about the lack of the stupid jets spawn bombing. We all came from more tactical games like Raven Shield and the older Rainbow Six series games. So we enjoyed the hell outta some night maps and close quarters. Also, it is much easier to create a legible tactic on the SF side of things because it is easier to stay together and very seldom caught off guard (except for the occasional "dark sniper").

I agree, I enjoy the night maps. I really came to FPS games like these because of the Rainbow Six series. I did play some 1942 mostly DC. BFV was a letdown quality wise but still was fun. My disapointment is in performance of SF verses V-BF2. I just hope they sort it out. SF is a great expansion, just has some very serious flaws.

If I was king for a day. Attack choppers and artillery would be gone from SF. Replace with the little bird and keep the transport choppers. Gunship type aircraft like the AC-130 gun ship would replace artillery but would take very very long to recharge. Improve the performance and this would be a great, great expansion.

Yeah, as most of you have already read in the other posts, is that I am reverting back to the Night Maps... I have a server up and will try it out over the weekend. When I first bought SF I didn't like it. But then after playing I fell in love with Warlord. But it took about 10 tries of ' WTH, I can't kill anybody, Im going back to the original BF2!' . Same with the night maps, it took actually 5 tries to figure out that it's not as bad as it seems, it's actually fun to play! But not many servers out there that have night maps only....

but for the weekend here is one of three servers we have and we will put this one up on Night Maps only!!

                  How about...

GETTING CONSTANTLY RAPED FROM ABOVE BY THE DAMN HIND or MEC CHOPPERS??? AND IGLA's just bounce off them???

How about the Prone/Roll/Aim exploit by guys using programmable keys like on the Logitech G15 keyboard?

I can *empty* my Jackhammer into a guy doing that is only 5-10 feet away and he still kills me????

I don't mind getting sniped as that takes skill.

This is way off topic but anyway the prone/roll/aim deal is on all versions of the game so that dont matter and the "i dont mind getting sniped as that takes skill" quote just reminded me of last night i was riding shotgun in a jeep and we made a hard turn and the driver just falls out dead after being sniped at full speed sideways so i hit "F1" and take over for 3/4 of a sec then WHAM! You know the rest.

This is the first time ever, I am told that for such a grand system you have there, BF:SF lags. Quite a surprised in the bad sense. I have always been hoping that after a major upgrade in the future to a system close to what you have, both BF2 SF and EF will be as smooth as like 60+ frames per second. Now I think not quite so.

I still not very sure about what most of you reckon. I am talking about the lag. If you are saying SF is more laggy than vanilla BF, then I will have to disagree with you completely. Sorry but there it is, becoz I just do not find it more laggy than vanilla BF. As a matter of true fact, I find vBF also laggy, it just depeds under what situations the game becomes laggy.

I can understand the frustration lies greatly in the helicopters. But that is just one of the vehicles in SF. It is just unfair to say the game is not worth buying just because there is flaw as small as that in the game.

In vanilla BF2, I find it laggy when there are more than 10 people in the same screen and talking about a 64 players server.

I play special forces almost all the time. I normally play all the maps except the night ones, because you can't find them that often. I like the new armies and weapon choices. I will agree it can be laggy at times but plays ok. I would like to see the kits tweaked a little. Give the sniper grappling hook & zip zine. and I would like to have weapons unlock from the SF weapons. Use the SCAR that US Seal assaults gets and RPG, and G36 with exteneded barrel and full auto, and the HK Mac 10 type sub machine gun. Those things need to be incorporated across the board. You should have unlocks in every game avail. I mean we have enough ranks to do that. Overall I have fun playing it, mainly becuase you don't have all of the damn planes and choppers. Armor and ground troops is much, much, more fun

I haven't had problems with lag. I always pick the servers with the lowest ping.

Actually, the Russians have been using the "MEC's" weaponry since the late 80s/early 90s ('cept the AK101: that's one of their export-only weapons that fires 5.56x45mm NATO rounds instead of the 5.45x39mm rounds that the Russian Army standard issue AK74M, which is cosmetically identical to the AK101, is chambered for). Still, since it's freakin' SPETSNAZ we're talkin' about here, it's not like EA couldn't have taken a look through this site and included something like the AN-94, the AS VAL, or the VSS. Slackers.

As for the SAS? The SA80/L85, contrary to the impression most videogames give off, is one of the crappier assault rifles ever divised, and even though the G36 system doesn't have too much combat experience under it's belt, the fact that Spain, Mexico, and numerous special police units around the world are adopting it over designs like the SA80 is ample evidence of its superiority, just as the US spec ops guys have recently begun trading in their M4s and M16s for more reliable and versatile weapons systems like the M1A and FN SCAR.

                                I think SF rocks but it's too expensive: 29€!! C'mon, it's an ad-on not a full version.
Same for BF2vanilla: 49€ if you buy it regularly (not ebay).

But that could be another topic because all computergames are too expensive!
Anyway, It's like heroin: I'm addicted so I buy it
