Bought / Downloaded EF - Go to play - says I have to buy it again! LOL

Wow EA, and I'm really trying to temper my frustration here, did everything you said to do, to the letter, read the FAQ, etc, heck I'm even a college grad.

Bought it, after figuing the whole password thing, dowloaded it, clicked play now, it lauched BF2, not EF for some inexplicable reason, go to play it and it says, 'You must Purchase EF first to play.'

The funny thing is I had a feeling this would happen given all the reports out just today. I'd prefer to buy a CD version, but you don't offer it, so of course you don't have to incur the expense of making them and sending them to stores.

I'll try to figure this out for another hour or so, but if it still doesn't work, I'm calling EA tomorrow to get a refund.

I'm stunned you've made it so difficult for us to buy your product. Word to the wise, when people are trying to give you money, make it as easy as possible for them to do so.

EA would not put Euro Force on a CD not because of the cost, but because if they put EuroForce on a CD it would be too hastle-free for people to install it.

Lol having the same problem... just rediculous, i have the maps but of course i have to buy it for the computer for a different account....

they have an FAQ section on this i followed the steps and it still doesnt work.
ridiculous...

Yes I feel your frustration. I have spent countless hours following their steps and even got on their tech support phone line. Ridiculous! I am a 33 year college grad with a professional job to EA if your reading this. Downloaders suck! I geuss I will have to resort to asking for a refund also. It's to bad a game with so much potential has been marred by so many problems since its been out.

Please can another company release a similiar game thats more user freindly, I beg you! Maybe Huxley or Quake wars will be decent.

oh man... i thought it was just me... that takes a load off....

ea must be having a new patch comming out to fix this soon..... but iv seen some people play on euro forces already.... soo i dunno whats going on :cry:

That error message should indicate that you did not enter the BF2 name you play with in the boxes when prompted. That section of the FAQ should tell you how to change the name you entered to be your BF2 name. Please be careful though because after 3 tries GameSpy will lock that name out of changing for a week.

no because they don't have to play for CDs and prodution cost and back more money to just have you install some spyware and it to tell you sorry you can't play this, you didn't buy it even though we just charged your account =P

i tried to register a bf2 account with the account i put down as my gamespy account but its one letter too many.........

Ya im having the same problem but it's kinda different. But I think this might be the problem.

When filling out the billing information and when your done with that it asked for your screen name. So im guessing that the game you download is only for that user name.

My problem is that I have 3 accounts for family wise and only one of my account works to play EF(all the accounts are on one compter) and the account I that I used to download it is the only account works. My guess is that ea wants people to buy the booster for each account.

Thats screwed up if there doing it like that. Can anyone find a way to make it work for all your accounts?

I entered my bf2 screen name and I still can't play. But I was wondering if I should have recieved an email confirming my purchase of euro forces, cause I didn't. Could it be that I won't be able to play untill it gets charged for?

Yes it runs BF2 but if you don't have ER installed, then the EF servers appear in red. However if you install EF, they don't appear in red. There isn't a seperate program for EF, it's a small booster pack-therefore why not run it on BF2?

After you bought EF, I hope you clicked the "Install" button on the EA downloader. :o

enzo, thats not the problem, it seems EA messed up the wording when it came to registering account names. it said enter your GameSpy Id, when in fact it needs your BF2 username

Update here, I finally got it to work after changing my gamespy ID (Haven't used / logged into gamespy for 3 years) to my BF2 ID.

Still amazed at the hoops I had to jump through to get this to work. Never again will I buy a game through EA Downloader. If it's not available on CD I won't buy it.
