Newbie question regarding online gameplay.

Hi everyone,

I haven't played BF2 to any extent online but when I have I've enjoyed it immensley, and as a result I have a few newbie questions which I was wondering about.

1. What is the penalty for a player who is punished for a teamkill?

2. What is function of the "switch channel" (V) key?

3. If you are a squad leader, can you order your squad to attack or defend an objective independently of the commander, or must you wait for his instruction and then relay it to your squad?

1. For every tk you are punished for your count goes up one. Once you reach the limit (its different per server) you are kicked and most of the time banned.

So if you tk ten people 5 punish you and the limit is 4 you are then kicked/banned.

Not all servers feature a punish system.

2. Switch channel? No idea...
3. You can order independently.

Press ctrl and you'll get a similar screen to the commanders, here you can right click to give orders or request things from your com.

CTRL is not the default key.

V (by default) is a voice line to the commander which can only be accessed if you are a squad leader.

1.) plz dont punish people just cuz you feel like it... if its unintentional,forgive it ****es people off.
2.) V by default = talk to comander.(only when you're squad leader)
3.)you can by pressing capslock and you get a map. you can use mouse (right click,etc) to order 'em around or you can use comorose. press and hold T on a place you want your team members to attack,etc... and choose from the options

Thanks guys, lots of useful tips in there. I'm not in the habit of punishing people, quite the opposite in fact, I've only TK'd one team mate when I suddenly turned round and saw his big gun and panicked and he quite rightly punished me.

Dont let these guys fool you there are some times when you should punish people. Just be smart about it, ask yourself If I did that would it have been an accident? If the answer is yes then its easy to forgive, unless this is the tenth time that this has happened this round. 90% of the time if it was an accident the player will say sorry, just be sure to wait about 10 or 12 seconds to see if they do (normal respawn time is 15 seconds). If Im undecided the player saying sorry will always get a forgive.
