Seem to be working fine for many people. All you really need is one with a decent video card.

GeForce 6800 GO *will drop in a 7800 GO GTX when I get the $$$
1920x1200 screen (while Medium is playable at this res, I run mostly on low for the FPS boost)

I use the Dell XPS Gen 2. 6800 ultra, 7200 RPM 60GB, and 1GB RAM, kick my self for not getting 2 Gigs but it still runs awsome. As far as the "sloppy dell craftmanship" I have had no problems now for going on a year.

BF2 runs fine on my Dell Inspiron 6000D. Been running very smoothly on low/med the past half year I used it, scoring over 25k points. low/med is great for online gaming anyways.

6000D, Pentium M 1.8G, 128mb ATI mobility x300, 2G of ram.

I got the Dell XPS Gen2 and it whoops a gang of ass. Check my sig and definitely note my 3DMark score. Pwnag3!!!.

Same here. XPS Gen 2 with 2GB and an nVidia 6800 Ultra with 256MB. All BF2 settings on Medium. I love the screen. It's one of those UltraBrite 1920x1200 things. Very nice.

Performance is more than good enough. I play all the time laying down on the couch. Buddies insist I use a mouse, but I stick with the touchpad. It means I'm probably slower and not as accurate, but nothing beats playing while lying down. I can go for hours.

Only problem: I keep burning my right thigh. The laptop gets really, really hot and I'm so engaged in the game that when I finally stop, I notice my leg is all red.


The Dell XPS Gen 2 is highly recommended.

I don't know where you heard this rumor, but if you have any doubts, drop by the crib. I'll show you first hand that this laptop runs BF2 perfectly.

I've got the same lappy mate, complete with a lovely mediterranean blue lid cover. Radeon 128 mb X300 with only 1G of ram, and i love playing with it on low - i dont care about the quality of the picture, besides without shadows its easier to find people!

Have the Dell XPS first generation 3 Ghz, 1 Gig Ram, ATI mobility 9800 256Mb video. Plays great. I play on low currently have not tried to run it up to medium but I do play at 1600X1200 resolution. Looks awesome to me. I have not had any failures or problems on mine had it for a year.

It is heavy and big = a drag to lug around...

Scuddy mate, thats precisely the reason i bought mine! having left the public service (business admin and IT support) to persue a tertiary education (carn the ANU!!!) i had a hankering for a lappy rather than needing to write everything. granted, the thing weighs more than a bloody brick outhouse, but i figure its worthwhile - i bought it just after it came on the market, and got it specced up as much as i possibly could!

I bought myself a gaming laptop, after a lot of window shopping. XPS Gen2, with 1 Gb Ram, 7800 GTX, Intel M 2 Ghz processor, and an Audigy 2z from Newegg.

Cost me $2,300 (including a 2 year warranty). Can't wait for it to arrive. Finally, I will be able to play BF2 on all high.

their are laptops out there that will run bf2 on high but they cost a absolute bloodey fortune, their usually enourmous and not that reliable also.

Keep laptops for laptop stuff and keep pc's for pc stuff is the best advice.
