Big Bertha - the dell inspiron 9100, 3ghz p4, 512 ram, 128mb 9700
Plays BF2 beautifully on the glorious aesthetic of low settings - gameplay > graphics after all :)
although it plays halflife 2 perfectly on high and handled the lost coast admirably
wouldnt recommend it though - its twice as heavy as a normal laptop with only an hour of battery and sloppy dell workmanship (something is always broken in it - currently the dvd drive
)

VAIO VGNS-460B Pentium M Centrino 1.73GHZ, 2GB ram, 128 mb GeforceGO 6200
Plays perfectly at medium anything and its only 4.6 pounds with 3-4 hours of battery life depending on how bright your screen is and how loud you have your speakers. (usually 3 hours is normal)

I also have one of the big berthas A Dell 9100 with 3.2 ht pentium4 and an ati 9800 256mb graphics card. Every thing set on either medium or high and I average about 62 fps. My dell has not had any problems however. I guess I got lucky and was sent a good one.

Mobile Sempron 3000+
1gb PC2700
Radeon xPress 200m
I can play on 16 player servers on Karkand and Sharqi and get 30fps or so on all the lowest settings. Of course it looks like ass and is pretty jumpy, but it's decent considering that I pain $450 for the laptop.

Re: Gaming laptops.
yeppers. The 9800 mobility is more like the x800 than like the 9800 for the desktop.....or I believe that is what I read. Either way, it works great for me..I am mucho happyOriginally posted by werewolfversion2You play on all medium with a 9800?

Re: Gaming laptops.
Keep in mind that most laptop components are not upgradeable like a desktop so get the best CPU and video you can (maybe one step away from the best for CPU). Common exceptions are hard and optical drives and RAM. Only a few notebooks can have CPU or video replaced. You should also try to get a 7200rpm hard drive; even that will not be as fast as a 7200rpm desktop drive (smaller platters & slower seek time) but it's the best you can do.
