Installing BF2 SF

I have been trying to install BF 2 SF for awhile. I have installed and reinstalled and nothing has worked.


I have tried

I had bf2 installed and patched to 1.21 and then installed SF and it patched it to 1.1 and then i patched to 1.20 and again to 1.21

The first time I installed it I could open BF2 SF fine but when i went to connect to a server it said something about not using a modified version ......or something. So I tried to reinstall.

I tried that 2 - times. I cant seem to get it installed. TIPS are appreciated. I just want to play some BF2.


amd 3000+
Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT OC
1gb RAM
plenty of HD space
win xp pro sp 2

You have to install BF2 then SF and after that full 1.21 patch (not incremental).

patch 1.21 is like a small hot fix, you need to install 1.2 first

I'm having the same issue...just installed SF and getting the modified version message.

So, I gather to fix this the steps are:

Install FULL 1.2 patch (not incremental)
followed by FULL 1.21 patch (not incremental)

Should work. Right?

i had this issue too it look me 6 hours to figure it out..just let it patch to 1.1 then Full 1.21 patch.

Yep, that should work cause its the order in which the patches and sf came out.

To be more thorough, this is what I would do:

1. Install BF2
2. Install 1.12 patch (full patch, cant remember if they released an incremental too, if they did dont use it)
3. Install SF
4. Install 1.21 patch (full or incremental version shouldnt make a difference)

And do not confuse 1.12 with 1.21 :)

That is exactly what I just did and it did not work. Now I am uninstalling AGAIN. Now for the last attempt before I take it back (I only bought it to play with a guy that I work with, but I shouldnt have to spend 6 hours installing a game). I am going to try

I have the 1.12 patch (280mb) and the FULL 1.21 patch (367mb). Thank you for the replies.:)


***EDIT*** So I installed the default nvidia video drivers that game with my bf2 disc (78.01) over my 81.98 (the newest) drivers.......And now it works........I dont get it but I'll take it. Thanks for your help. Sorry if I seemed frustrated :)>

So this shouldn't effect Euro Forces then right? Because i have it installed already i'm just having trouble with SF, thanks.

So, I ended up doing exactly what Mateck and Scinto suggested at the start of this thread and now I'm set to go. Not sure which patch is really necessary or both for the matter, but I:

1. Installed SF
2. Patched with the full versions of 1.2 and 1.21.

Worked out smoove like shaved poony. No driver probs either.
