    Outrageous Pings

I have a problem i am hoping can be fixed. I live on campus in college. All last fall the pings to play online were nice, about 40-70's, highest i had was 100. around the end of january however, the pings jumped to a horrible 200+ making it impossible to play prettymuch without getting kicked. What can i do to lower it back to the way it used to be. what could be causing this problem.

    thanks in advance.

Find everyone who got Battlefield 2 for christmas on campus and break their wrists. Sorry... that's probably not very helpful...

Could just be a different ISP/new internet conection that they are using, or there is just alot more people tat are using the innternet. Try playing at odd hours and see if it changes at all. If not, then its prob a capping system they are using or a slower conection, if it does change, then it means its just the number of people on the network.

i have the exact same problem. i'm at the university of maryland and around early february i started getting outrageous pings.

the weird thing that confuses me is that every other game i play still gets great ping. i pretty much play day of defeat source and battlefied, and day of defeat gets sub 20 ping all the time, where battlefield doesnt get below 150.

well looks like it's happened to some other people. one guy said he un installed and reinstalled his graphics drivers and that fixed it.

i just uninstalled my ATI drivers and reinstalled the newest catalyst, 6.3 i think it was. unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. this is really starting to anger me.

A similar things happend here at home (but i know why), as we have 7 comps on a home network (and 2 laptops) (one of the pc's is a server), when everyone gets home from school and at like 8-10 at night the internet gets soo much slower, or if there are alot of perople on our server... it really slows things down.. very annoying, i want to get another connection, but it costs soo much.

If only it were that easy.

Is there any "hotspots" near you? you could always try out one of those wireless internet thinggy's. I know people mainly use them for laptops, but you never know.

it's definately not the connection. well i wouldn't say definately, but every other internet application, including other games, still get awesome pings.

not to mention it worked just fine when i first came back from winter break.

try clearing out the BF2 cache, see if that brings your pings down
