        :shakehead

Who would have guessed this would turn out to be a "this tank is better than that tank" thread...

Given more so that they quote facts that they do nothing more than read about and have no practical aplication on the vehicles with which they spout on and on...

For every show that is produced stating one is bettern than the other... you can find a show that will show the oposite...

Back on topic: Yeah. Tank dynamic could have been done better to help in the slight uphill climbs.

and i suppose tank crews know all about composite armor, we are gamers, not rocket scientists. i was just trying to turn this thread into a discussion, with little success.

I remember seeing the latest Jaguar test photos. At the Nurburgring they had an external shut off switch, so if the engine fuxored itself you could jump out and hit the button near the driver's side door before it burst into flames.

Actually it'd be cool if they included that in Battlefield 2. Instead of C4'ing it you could run up behind it and just turn it off.

This made me laugh, though i thought you might like to know that Ford makes Jaguar now.

                  Owns it. Doesn't make it.

That would be like saying FiatSPA makes Ferrari. Yet, this thread is way off topic.

To answer the thread starters question. The U.S. doesn't buy Arms from Russian on a military level. We consider our weapons to be surperior in terms of accuracy... and that's about it.

Besides. It just wouldn't make sense really. I could understand if the US bought the license to produce T-90's on our shores, maybe then you would see them in our ranks. Yet, I don't think anyone would argue the M1a2 inferior to the T-90 or any other tank on the globe for that matter. Maybe a little worse in some catagories, yet always somthing to be feared.

Also, in response to the Brits. You're our allies, we never had to worry about your military might in comparison to ours because we fight on the same side, for the same cause. So, if your tank is better... hooray? Odds are, it will be shooting "NEXT" to an Abram, not "AT" it.

Is it just me, or does the chinese tank have horrible range moving up? It seems other tanks can aim higher, which is important for aiming at choppers.

                        Fact Check:
The Type 98 (also known as ZTZ-98) is the PLA’s third generation indigenous main battle tank (MBT). Its batch production variant is Type 98G (also known as ZTZ-99 or Type 99). The tank was developed by Beijing-based China North Vehicle Research Institute (NEVORI, also known as 201 Institute) and manufactured by Inner-Mongolia First Machinery Group Co., Ltd (FIRMACO) of Baotou, Inner Mongolia. A small number of the Type 99 is now in service with the PLA.
China’s effort to develop a new generation indigenous MBT as a rival to the Soviet T-72 began in the late 1970s. The initial design was based on the German Leopard 2. In March 1979, the 201 Institute and 617 Factory (now FIRMACO) introduced the first prototype codenamed 1224 tank. The tank was fitted with a 120mm smoothbore main gun and German-built MB8V331TC41 diesel engine. Later the design team introduced the improved 1226 and 1226F2 prototype tanks. All these prototypes showed characteristics of Western tank design such as welded turret in contrast to the traditional Soviet half-egg-shape cast turret.
After the plan to purchase the Leopard 2 tank from Germany was cancelled un 1981, the third-generation indigenous tank programme was finally given go ahead. However, the development soon went to a halt as the design team split into two sides with totally different perspectives. One side suggested a rather unconventional, if not revolutionary, design with Western-style 120mm smoothbore gun, gas turbine engine, and front-mounted engine layout similar to that of the Israeli Merkava. The other side supported a less radical design based on the Soviet T-72 hull, with a 125mm main gun and Western-designed diesel engine.
As a result of the dispute, the programme made little progress until 1984, when the PLA leaders clearly showed their support to the less risky proposal to develop the new tank on the basis of the T-72. Zhu Yusheng was appointed as the chief designer of the new tank and the programme finally went into full scale development. In 1986 the third-generation tank project was officially approved by the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the State Council. In Spring 1989 the PLA signed the contract with China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO), the parent company of 201 Institute and 617 Factory, to develop and build the third generation MBT.
In early 1990, 617 Factory completed the first three experimental prototype tanks. Based on the initial test results, the design proposal was further optimised. In 1993, 617 Factory built additional four prototypes, which were tested between 1995 and 1996. In December 1996, four prototype tanks were handed to the PLA for extensive evaluation and tests. The design of the tank was finalised in 1996 and the tank was officially designed Type 98 (also known as ZTZ-98). A small number (less than 10) of the Type 98 was delivered to the PLA in 1999 to take part in the military parade held in Beijing to celebrate the country’s 50th anniversary.

im thinking people forget that this is a game sometimes.. lets face it, if the tanks (and all other vehicles) had real life stats, then the USMC would destroy the mec and chinese tanks everytime. but because its a game the sides have to be balanced... and as for the challenger2, well if that had real stats used on it in the game then u might as well give up straight away.. its arguably the best tank in the world (though i am a brit,, so i am bias).. uranium tipped rounds that pierce thru the side of a T90 like a hot knife thru butter, then explode inside the tank, incinerating the tank and its crew from the inside.. i dont think that'll make it into the EF pack

Please ignore the bulls*it rehtoric that this crappy site revells in but the images towards the bottom of the screen are interesting. Seems that the M1 may be good against other tanks but it's pretty suseptable to mines and hand held rocketry etc.

The message of the site is pretty comical but the images arent.

Sure you don't mean Abrams shooting AT Chally 2  sorry no offence meant but you know what point im getting at (yes I know this specific event has not happend either!!)

Personally I think give the chally the abrams engine and mount a 50. cal as the AA gun then we would really be talking awsome! we gave the US the armour, you'd think they can bung us the cash for the engines!

Only the Type 59 was bought from Russia. THe Type 59 is the licensed copy of the T54/55 tank in Russia. From then on, they improved upon the Type59 design, and have made some designs that are not based much on the Type 59.
