    Audio. Software, hardware, EAX?

I have a Creative Live 24 bit, sound card. 7.1. I can run 7.1 on many games and EAX on many. But I am confused on this game. Which setting do you think I should put them on. Im not even woried that much about the EAX, I would just like to here 7.1. I bought a $50 card, and a $100 surround sound system from creative, you would think after running on several other games, it would work great on a "Creative sponcered game". What the hell.
Anyways, when I put the settings on hardware, the sound cuts in and out. what is the lowest setting I can put it on and still get 7.1, or even 5.1?
    Thanks

I have onboard realtek HD audio and I can play damn near any game with high audio settings except BF2. I can't run hardware settings properly although the game does sound awesome like this minus a few rough spots. The sound effects cut out sometimes and the radio messages have a strange kind of stutter to them. I say the game is at fault.

The Creative Live! series of cards are quite outdated and don't support the latest EAX standards. You will need at least an Audigy class card for EAX HD to work.

To run on higher settings you will need a better card.

This is crap. Its like EA and Creative are trying to have a joint screwing of its players. I think it is a ploy to get us all to buy the outragously priced fatality cards. Everything about this game is focused on scamming every little dime they can out of its fans, and not supplying a faultles great gaming experiance. And they picked the perfect game to do it with too. Looks like I'm off to buy a fatality card

My card is hardly out dated. Maybe in creatives mind it is, but my sound is great on other games. Their is no good reason for my card not to work fine on this game except that EA/dice made the card not compatable in an effort to screw us into buying new cards. I know Im complaining a lot, but this is a forum and I feel like im getting the short end of the stick from EA. MIGHT I ADD, that the current driver that I use for my LIVE 24 bit, is the same driver they give you for one of the audigy cards. And I here that a lot of audigy people are having trouble to. I could understand how EAX might now work when using on board sound or a cheaper card, but you should still be able to use 5 and 7.1. This option is no great technology, and should be 100% compatible in this game.

again, does anyone know the lowest setting I can put it on and still get a 7.1 signal?

Mate no offence but the Live cards are outdated, simple as that.

Did you know that the original SB Live was released in 1998? That's eight years ago, an ETERNITY in PC hardware. Your current soundcard is based on the same soundchip as the original SB Live but with added 24bit and 7.1 capabilities.

It will still play any game out there, but only in the older EAX 2.0 modes, or in DirectSound3D or software mode if that isn't supported.

The Audigy class cards use a more advanced soundchip that can handle EAX HD games such as BF2.

Put your settings at high quality and enable EAX, that should give you surround sound.

As for the partnering of EA and Creative... $200 sound cards deliver $200 worth of features and performance. They partnered to help sell the game, and deliver new features to gamers as well as give a reason for gamers to buy an X-fi. Your card is a fine card and it supports older versions of EAX.

Dont worry about not being able to use the ultra high quality mode.
