    Inconsistency

I find myself having consistency problems ALL the damn time. I remember playing this game a couple of months ago and being really freaking good as a Medic, but now 50% of the time... I suck.

I also have problems 'hitting' my target. I get frustrated that I'm not hitting them even though I am aiming at them. I make sure my recoil is down, croutching/laying down, scoped, ect.

I use the L8 when I'm American, AK-74 (101) when I'm MEC, G36C (isn't this the name of the Medic version?) when I'm sucking with the L8 or 74.

I even (sometimes) turn off my crosshairs to fix the 'consistency' problems. And it actually sometimes helps.

I can't figure out why I suck so much now, but before I was GOOD. Anyone else have/had skill consistency problems?

We all have good days and bad days.

You might want to change up your tacitcs a bit. What used to work well has become known to more people and their more likely to expect it. Try changing up you kit selection in order to bust up your habbits.

I used to suck as a medic when I first started... didn't play it for awhile. Then I ended up coming back to is and doing really well. Why? I donno.

      Give it a shot tho.

it's called *drum roll* lag time!

if you wanna see the lag time, play as sniper. if you can hit someone at 300m while they're running, it's a great server. if you can't hit a mountain at 50m, then the server lags horribly.

i've played on servers where i couldn't hit a stationary target at 20 ft, 5 minutes later in another server, i've got 3 headshots on running soldiers at 200m+.

Interesting. My friend also said that 'lag' causes it. He also says that people with crap internet and crap computers ALSO cause the problem.... hmm.

The servers I play on have 40-60 ping.

If your friend is suggesting that high ping players impact your ping, he's wrong.

That's not how the system works. In fact, someone with a high ping is likely to cause less load on the server simply because he's not in communication with it as much.

They can, however, be a pain to hit since they're more likely to jump and stutter... but to them, the whole world is doing the same thing.

Just thought I'd toss that info in here 'cause it's an often misunderstood issue in on-line gaming.

That's an extremely common misconception. While it is true that people with crap connections can be difficult to hit because their avatar skips all over the place, they do not degrade the performence of the server at all. In fact, a person on dialup takes up a miniscule amout of resources (bandwidth, cpu time) from a server compared to players on broadband who could single handedly max out the bandwidth of a server (if you're on OOL :)) if the bandwidth wasn't all partitioned equally for every client.

                Re: Inconsistency

One thing I've noticed is high(er) pings + character animations that don't really represent what is going on = some very inconsistent results at times.

In most games, a 20 ping player will have a large advantage over 80-90 ping players, but in bf2, at least for me, I've found it much harder to land shots on players with 2/3 times my ping.

Granted, anyone in the 100+ ping range will warp a little, but I'm talking about 80ish pings vs. 20ish.

Usually the latency difference of that range does not make hitting the higher ping player hard, but in this game it seems a large percentage of my shots just don't connect at the same level of accuracy that they do when I'm playing against players with lower pings like mine.

You beat me to the punch. I'm so sick of seeing people in online games that say "kick <insert high pinger here> because he's lagging us!". Such ignorance. They ought to be saying "kick <insert high pinger here> because he's got teleport h4x!"
