Is setting bf2 to english only a good idea? maybe not

I originally set bf2 to english only but changed to the normal language ironically to hear the SAS speak english (go figure )

After a while i changed it back and it dawned on me how much of a advantage it is to not have english only.

Afterall if you think about it if your on MEC say you dont need to understand your team mates language when spotting etc because they light up whatever it is.

But what it does mean is that if you PLA or MEC and your say capping a flag etc if you hear a american accent you know theres a enemy nearby. And of course if your USMC and hear a language you dont understand you also know theres a enemy near. :)

I used to not use English only, but now i do because I just cant stand not understanding what is being said. I just ready myself whenever I hear any voices.

IMO english only is a very very bad idea. You'll learn to remember chinese/mec radio calls quickly anyway. I've even spotted calls russian from tv (after 50 hours of special forces).

I switched to English VO because some guy on the forums said it frees up RAM.

Same here, but I think having the different languages of PLA and MEC provides realism.

Really? And have you noticed any differences of performance? And does anybody knows about that tweak?

I keep it set to default so I can hear enemies.

i keep it on normal voices to hear if an enemy is near and more importantly fo me, to remember who i am killing. with the switching teams every round thing, sometimes i slip up and forget for a second which team i am on and hearing the voices kinda keeps me in line...

I dont mind the chineese at all, in fact I think it sounds cool, however I find the MEC voices to be extremely annoying(i really dont mean that to be racist).
SO..Is there a way to replace the MEC voices with chineese And leave the English as English? That would be amazing!!!

                          Anyone?

You don't need to disable english voice overs to be able to spot MEC/PLA troops talking jibberish when they are sneaking up on you. Just watch your minimap and see if any teammates are around you, if not then you know it's an enemy. Also, it's difficult to hear someone making radio calls unless they are practically breathing down your neck. The only exception would probably be a sniper spotting stuff nearby when he thinks he's hidden. Also, like someone else said, the extra voices do take up more memory so those that are running with some tight settings will wanna run with english VO enabled.

Yea, the MEC voices are very annoying to me too. I've heard plenty of arabic in my time. It's a cool sounding language but the game just doesn't do it justice. Anyone else notice that the voice actors for MEC are mostly white? It's really obvious when you hear the guy announcing the UAVs status.

I personally find the MEC voices really annoying so I went to english only. I agree it is an advantage in some ways. I guess I didn't leave it on long enough to learn the other languages. But playing as MEC/PLA I had to read the messages to know what was going on. So when I went to english only I just listen to voices then compare it to the mini map. Only time it's been bad is when I was basically right next to a team mate so I didn't see him on the map. Heard him call for a medic and I pumped a shotgun round into the bush I heard it come from....punished instantly of course.

Might try going back to native voices. I watch my RAM usage so I can get back to you guys if it uses more RAM or not. I'd imagine it does.
