There would be no use.
But, if you really wanted to, I'm sure you could open Fraps before you open the game, and it'll show the FPS at the top right.

Yeh, but that uses my precious resources.... I have a 1.8 Ghz Intel processor, I need all the power I can get from it.....

Adding the line (renderer.drawfps 1) to GameLogicInit.con in mods\bf2 does it. But unfortunately at least i get modified content error on most of the servers if i edit the file.

If you can't use fraps try RivaTuner statistics server instead. It's a bit difficult to launch because rivatuner doesn't create shortcuts to it but it can be found from RivaTuner\Tools\RivaTunerStatisticsServer.

open console in game, type renderer.drawfps 1 & press enter.

It will display to sets of numbers on the top left of the screen, the number son the left are the FPS & the numbers on the right are the CPU usage.

Or we could just type a simple line into the console and use the one that came with the game instead of filing up our hard drive and using resources!

okay, the number on the right IS NOT the cpu usage G*D D**M. Hit ctrl alt delelte and play BF2, go back later and chekc the CPU usage thingy, its at 100% almost all the time. How is it, that when Im getting 90fps, my CPU usage is 10 then eh?
geez its not CPU usage, the number on the left is frames per second, and the number on the right, is time delay between frames. notice when the left goes up the right goes down, exactly. ask any body who knows what they are talking about, number on the right is delay between frames. kthnx.

I believe you guys are wrong with saying renderer.drawfps 1.

0 should be on and 1 off.

This is the correct command, type it exactly as I have done.
However like many others I use fraps.
