Computer Shuts Down

After playing installing the 1.21 patch and playing the game, suddenly during a round my computer just shut off. And it didnt only happen in that game, it happened in other games like lord of the rings battle for middle earth 2. How do I keep this from happening?

Most likely your Power Supply is not meeting the demand and/or your memory settings need tighting up.

What type of PSU got, with what vid card and processor?

I dont know what PSU I have, but I have a P4 processor with 3ghz and a radeon 750x pro.

I bought Bf2 and have been using it since june and I have never had a problem

Either your PSU is dying which means you need to buy a new one (Enemax All in One 530 watt is really good) or maybe your vid card or processor is overheating and your computer is shutting down before it causing to much damage.

Classic dying PSU symptoms.

Can you open your case and give us the information thsi is on a large sticker attacked to the side of the power supply unit?
Particularly the information regarding the maximum amperage of the +12V rail.
Also, how long have you had it?/how long does it run each day?

Well actually now after it turns off, when I turn it on, some voice comes on and says:"system failure due to CPU over processing/heating/ something else(I couldnt really understand it). Ive only had this computer for a year and it runs about 10-12 hours a day.

The power box sticker says Pentium 4, and ISO switching power supply,model ISO-500D, and its peak load is 450W. Do you think it could just be lots of dust?

Could be heat related. Dust could be covering the fans of the PSU. I recommend buying some cans of air. Or if you have an air compressor laying around blow out your computer.

Why would his system just now be overheating with patch 1.21? I'm curious because my game crashes to desktop, or reboots completely during play now that I've installed 1.21. I could play for hours on end w/ 1.2. I doubt his powersupply just now became dust covered or decided to die. Problem seems more like the patch since that is when his problems started.

The problem could be that there are too many startup applications running. Go ctrl+alt+delete then go to "processes" and end some of the applications but dont end any applications with the "system,local service,network service etc" only get rid of the ones with you windows user name after it

i can tell you this for free and im 99.99% sure of this!!!!!!

guess what ?
when a prosseser is 1st put in to the computer whats the thing you do inbetween placing the prosseser in to the socket and putting the heatsink on?

well heatpaste or thermal paste(which ever one you want to call it)
this is recomended as it gives a nice contack,but..............
unfortunaly most heatsink usaly have a standard heat paste on them which only last a year then just fade's away.

i recomend you get a sliver based heatsink paste and apply yo the underside of you heatsink,if you are not familar with this get some helps from some one who knows,but its easy to apply.

i saw a video on hear once of a cpu and some dude took the heatsink off when it was running it lasted about 2 seconds then pop.

heat builds up after long duration's that we no but after 12months of running u need to check the heatsink or an easerway go buy a new one it will have heatspreader on it<well usaly>

yea saw that vid amd cpu left without thermal paste up in smoke after not even a minute lol, just watch that stuff though its cancerous.
