    A few very big problems

I am posting this on behalf of a friend who has been having endless troubles with Battlefield 2. Before I start, here is his rig:
    AMD 4800+ X2
    2x 256MB GeForce 7800GTX in SLI
    Corsair TwinX 4400 2x512MB
    DFI LanParty nF4 SLI-DR
    Thermaltake 680
    Soundblaster Audigy Platinum Pro

I think you will agree that this is a fairly good setup.
His computer lags at 1280x1024 with everything on ultra high detail (this is odd as another friend with a similar setup can play at 1600x1200, ultra detail and full AA with absolutely no hiccups). Now this only happens when artillery is coming down.
The second problem he has is that he keeps losing his connection to servers, even local servers and ones he creates himself.
With regard to both problems, this is what we have tried:
    Disabling all sound
    Disabling a CPU core
    Disabling SLI
    Removing a graphics card
    Swapping RAM
    Swapping PSU
    Swapping motherboards
    Swapping NICs

These problems are not tied to any specific version of the game.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the monitor refresh rate and game refresh rate match, 85 hertz work best.
What make and model PSU he got?

Not sure about the connection loss?

Thank you for the speedy reply.
His desktop and game refresh rates do match and the problems persist no matter what it is changed to. His PSU is a Thermaltake PurePower 680W.

Do you know what his memory timings are set at?

Not offhand. I do recall him saying something along the lines of "the timings on this RAM are the best available" whatever they may be

I get a slow down problem when arty comes down too, turn the effects down to stop that problem occuring. I mean effects in the video settings.

That would probably work but the point is that he shouldn't have to turn anything down as his computer should be able to take it easily.

my friend is having the exact same issues.. he has a killer setup, and we are currently LANNing it up and no dice.

he gets disconnected from teh lan servers all the time.. and it's unfortunate..

We are wondering if it's something with low latency connections? as he stays connected fine to a server with over 300 ping... (like that's any fun though,)

                let's stay aprised...

dude.. try this.. so far 45 minutes stable.
