  • X1600 pro (4 active pipeline instead of 12?!?!)

i'm new at this but i'm just wondering

does the active pipeline displayed in ATI Tool the actual number you should have?

mine saids 4 (same as my old crappy 9200)
instead of 12 which is advertised on the cover box and websites

i don't think X1600 has anything locked up like GTO square
and i dont know if this junk can be modded

can anyone help me understand this?
should i return my card ASAP for refund??
    thx in advance

I've got a x800xt AIW AGP version, and mine reports 16. So I would say pro'ly yeah, it is telling something might be wrong.

I don't know much about PCI-E; have you checked your bios? Have you upgraded to the latest drivers? Your ATI tool readout is reporting the right chipset.

I noticed your ATI tool has the words BETA splashed across it, and mine is an older non-beta version. I dunno, maybe just a busted tool?

The videocard disables them when they are damaged, so you might have got a broken videocard.

Try using ATi Tool 0.24. It's the latest stable version at the moment. If all else fails, try a new X1600 Pro in your computer and see if you get the same results.

did you use driver cleaner before instaling the new card and drivers?

            i understand now

X1600 uses RV530 pro GPU where there are 4 major pipes contain 3 individual pipelines (1 texture and 2 vertex or something) 3x4 = the 12 on the advertisement

besides, the X1600 pro just came out, until a stable, nonbeta 0.25 version come out ATI tool is unreliable for me

256 bit! Oh man if only I knew that earlier ... The turn off for the X1600 was cause it was a 128 bit card ...

could be driver/ati tool problems, could be damaged card, or not enough power (possibly)

                what PSU do you have?
