Older version than server

So.

Ive reinstalled the game 4 times today. At this point I come here for help.

I have tried to install patch 1.21 and all I can seem to get from the servers that yesterday worked fine is. You are running an older version than the server.

For the love of my monkeys uncle. I reinstall and install up to 1.2, the servers that are still running that work fine. However, weather I use the full, or the partial update to 1.21 I cannt get through to the servers. They are red, and I know the game is patched as the version number is different, and that the 1.2 servers I was just playing on are telling me that they only allow unmodified content on the server.

So... once again, I am looking for a little help.

I know you really don't want to hear this, but have you re-installed in this following order?

1) Install BF2 from CD
2) Install v1.12 patch
3) Install v1.2 patch
4) Install v1.21 incremental patch

Maybe that will help, hopefully it will but it might not. :) /

Well coinsidering Ill give it a shot... what order on the list do you want me to ass SF?

After you install BF2 might be the best place to install SF.

Also maybe you are trying to join servers that havent been updated yet? Check the option Same Verison, in your filter options.

Im geting the same stuff. i thought it was just me. dude everytime ea makes a new patch all it does is mess up the game. This is what we get for noobs complaining. I think you noobs will be happy when all we can do is throw smoke grenades. Go play tetris or something if you dont like being killed.

Oh, I didn't know you had SF. Well, in that case it should be:

1) Install BF2 from CD
2) Install BF2:SF from CD (It will say patching to 1.01 or something like that)
3) Install v1.12 full
4) Install v1.2 incremental
5) Install v1.21 incremental

If u install SF after the patches you won't be able to play.
Make sure you install SF right after BF2 tand than patch with the 1.21 full patch.
I update an existing version with an incremental patch.
Whenever I reinstall, I always use the full patch. I would never step it up one patch at a time. I'd do right the first time use the full patch instead of patch working it together.

For reference try joining our server as a guaranteed source of having 1.21 installed. You may not get in though because its full, persistence will pay off.

What I would recommend having just reformatted pre 1.21 is this install procedure.

Install BF2
Install SF (once you install SF patch version will be 1.1)
Then download and install the "full" not incremental 1.21

Don't bother about installing any other patches and patches on patches.

I think you are trying to join a server that hasn't updated yet or for some reason, like you installed SF after all other patches it has reverted to a previous patch version like 1.1

Well I tired to above options, install bf2, install SF, and install 1.21.

No go.

I was pretty sure of the order to do the installs and what have you, I just cant really wrap my head as to why I am having these issues. I know I know patch issues are a common occurance, but SOB, I just can't get this to work right. I mean when I reinstall and only do a full patch to 1.2 I can get in fine, no problem. I have downloaded the patch from both fileplanet, and Battlefield2.com. I dont know if i could be downloading a jankey version of the patch or what the hell the deal is. I know more and more servers will be going to .21 as the weekend wraps up, so i cant just say that ill play .2 the whole time.

Thanks for the consistant help guys. Any more suggestions?

okay i tryed everything downloaded in order. downloaded with just full 1.21 and nothing it stays with the version 1.1.2.598 doesnt change wtf. i cant play on my server. someone help!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting the same problem buddy. The only other thing I can think of is to do a manual removal of all the BF2 files, and do a fresh install, and a single patch up. Try leaving SF off and see if it works with just vanilla BF2.

I'm just throwing stuff out here, cause I'm stuck too.

Well as bunk as this sounds, Im AM glad to see that Im not the only one having this problem. However I am calling it a night. For tonight, tomorrow is another day. Would be nice however to see if someone knows something we don't.

When you say a manual removal, what all are you reffering to? Server/Profiles/ everything? And what files would i need to be aware of that unstall dosent catch?

Because when i had an issue LIKE this one when 1.12 came out, other things led to a entire system format, and that seemed to fix the problem right up. So I guess now I need to know what I need to do to totally remove this thing from my computer completly and start over.

What is really going to suck about that more than anything is the fact that I will need to reinstall to get my favorite servers IP's written down and then uninstall profiles and settings.
