just get Home if its your own PC.
Only serious network freaks / admins need to worry about getting Pro.

Re: Windows XP PRO or Home
You could at least explain why..... Pro is mostly meant for businesses use and functions well on large networks. Home is mostly for the common home user and is a bit easier to get around in.... I really doubt that Pro will benefit him more than home...Originally posted by murshtno home is terrible i would suggest getting pro if anything

Re: Windows XP PRO or Home
After service pack 2, very, very little difference between XP home and XP pro. Pro was much more secure when released. It turns out that people get miffed if you charge them extra for a more secure system under the same farking brand AND product name.Originally posted by exhoWhat is good for gaming then?
Who'd've thunk it?
Edit: I checked after I posted (yup, scroood up order that was) and XP Pro does offer a tremendous amount of remote access options that Home does not.

Re: Windows XP PRO or Home
I used to have Windows XP Home then i switched to Windows XP Pro just recently. And i have noticed that XP Pro is better. I have not had my BF2 crashed to the desktop, but when i had XP Home it crashed several times.

Re: Windows XP PRO or Home
Most say this is just me, but ive had terrible experiences with Home and its stability and the way it "likes" drivers.
I can never get a XP Home system to run as well as an XP Pro.
Just buy Pro for the ability to use EFS, if nothing else.

Just go for Pro, it has a bit more options and is a bit more secure, for a gamer it doesn't mather much, but for the few cents it costs more use it instead.

Re: Windows XP PRO or Home
It's because I haven't formatted my computer in nearly a year and its lets just say causing some issues, for example I can't log into my Steam account which has nearly every Steam game - Dod source etc, because I get the cannot connect to Steam network error, and its been like that for 7 months, yes I tried tech support no use and they cannot help me further they told me, so I can only try reformatting, problem is I don't have the WinXp home disc, its installed on my computer.

I have some sort of Gold Tweaked limited edition of SP2. It had the media version plugins and networkt tweaks for net speeds and stuff. Doesn't really matter which you have for gaming.
