Let me start with my setup (before I upgraded to 2 gigs)
AMD 64 FX55
A8nSli-delux ASUS mobo
BFG 7800 gtx
1 gig corsair XMS ram
So I had all the settings on HIGH was getting around ~60-90 fps, but I was getting that horrible lag/stutter that soo many of us have been dealing with at the begining of the rounds. So I turned some of the settings down to medium, the FPS went higher but the lag was still there. So after doing soem research I though maybe a second gig of ram would be the key. So I grabbed another gig of corsair xms, put it in, dual channeled, running at 2.5-3-3-6 with 1t (I was having errors running at a cas latency of 2) And joined a 64 person multiplayer game. This is what i noticed...
game loaded a little faster (I was about the 10th person connected everytime)
NOT AN OUNCE OF STUTTER!!!!!! Yes! I was psyched!
So what I figured was that my system with 1 gig of ram ran the game just fine, hence the high fps, but with all the network stuff going on with the game in multiplayer it needs that extra gig to cache all the info from the server. I hope this helps you guys wondering if that extra gig will help. If you have a lower end system with a slow FSB that extra gig might not do much help cause you'll be bottlenecked at the FSB.
Rock on!
