Weapons, kits, and confussion

Dear all,

Please don't flame me just yet......

I currently have around 4500 points, ranked sergent. I have upgraded to the SF expansion. I hadn't played the game in months, when i came to install the expansion, and in the mean time the rank system seems to have changed. When i scored my first points i went up 3 ranks. This gave me a load of unlocks. I enjoy playing sniper, so went for the new sniper rifle upgrade. I now have two snipers available on US marine kits, but only the original upgrade one available on any of the other kits. (forgive me, i don't know the names of the weaps, i'm sure you will!). Is this normal? is the new gun only available on the Marines kits? That being said, I don't think that I have yet been able to select the new sniper in any Special Forces maps or kits. Like I said, i'm a bit confussed!

SF gives you it's own set of unlocks depending on rank as soon as you play, so sergeant gets you three. These unlocks are only for use in vanilla BF2, not SF itself. You can only unlock the SF unlocks aka tier 2, after the first set aka tier 1 are unlocked.

The second sniper unlock (L96 I think its called) can only be used on normal bf2 and not sf.

Same goes for the AT unlock,the P90.

thanks guys, thats great info. Why did they do it like that, making the weapons only available in BF? I'm sure the answer is around here somewhere.

Yes also you can use that gun as mec etc... on normal bf2!

I am not sure. I think it would be nice if all weapons were available for both games.

why, lol, because that was the plan, give BF2 players something as an extra bonus for buying SF... maybe so people wouldn't stop playing BF2?

my guess is..
EA wants their SF buyers to have some advantages to play original BF2. Just a tiny bit but not much. You just missed the flames here and other BF2 forums when SF came out.

Unlock the first unlcok then the 2nd unlock will be available to unlock. Plan and spend your unlocks wisely. Other might think differently but the followings are what i think worth unlocks:
DAO12
Jcakhammer
PKM
L85A1
G36C
F2000 because it got flashbangs(must unlock G3 first)

if you sniper alot, then both snipe unlocks are good.

For the rest, i wont use them even if i have them.
