1.21 and crash to desktop

So when 1.2 arrived i started to get the CTD bug others seem to have got

mine was v.bad and basically i could not play longer than 5-10 mins

No problems before this patch.

i check forums and read 1.21 should sort this problem, so i wait patiently the last few weeks.

Just downloaded 1.21 now , notice in patch notes no mention of CTD so i dont get my hopes up

install, get in a server - CTD within 60seconds

xp3200
2 gig ram
x800pe gfx card
windows xp

nothing changed on my system and still runs all other games fine.

Others still getting it as well?

You bet !!
I've updated all my ATI drivers, reinstalled BF2, SF, 1.2 and 1.21 and added another meg of RAM and I still can't get more than a few seconds in a server.

reinstall game/sf/new drivers/old drivers and everything in between!

Have you seen any tips anywhere that might work. I've seen people mention clearing caches etc but I wouldn't know where to start with that type of thing.

Depends on what cache, the browser cache is simply going to start/control panel/internet options ---> delete files, delete cookies (delete all offline content) don't think that would affect the game but doesn't hurt to clean those out anyway.

C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

is the cache people recommend clearing

which i have done and makes no difference to me

Not sure especially if you've uninstalled/re-installed. Maybe deleting from registry also on uninstall?

With 1.20 patch, I got frequent crashes to desktop. After 1.21 patch I still got crash to desktop, once so far.
