    converting heightmaps to 3ds

    Is there a way to convert heightmaps to 3ds? I have imported them into 3dmax, now I would like to export them to 3ds. Any thoughts.

      Can you not just save or export as .3ds?

              You've obviously hit a limit in Max, so you need to chop it up into sections.

              Why do you need them in 3DS anyway? There may be a better way to achieve what you want.
