    Dell5150 Crash at Typing Login

    Hello,

I just had my Dell Dimension 5150 delivered and I've updated the Ati drivers to Catalyst 6.3 and installed patch 1.12.

Upon retrieving my account, whilst writing my account name, the computer screen freezes, the sound keeps repeating whatever note its on and then the screen goes black and the computer stops.

    Help please?

    Specs:
    3.4 Ghz Pentium 4
    2Gb DDR Ram
    Ati X600 256 PCIe
    250gb 5400rpm HD

    Thankyou in advance.

    Yikes.

    Not really sure.
Try shutting off all other programs... (AV/Firewalls/etc...)
If that doesnt help... have you tried unistal / re-install.
    Update to patch 1.2?

Did you try it successfully before you updated your ati card? If yes... then maybe the culprit, but i would doubt it.

I did upgrade to patch 1.2 but it still doesn't work.

Upon retrieving the account information it still freezes, holds and repeats the sound note and the screen goes black. the only way to restart is by holding the power button, which isn't good for the computer.

I disabled Norton Internet Security 2005 and tried but failed. Kinda surprised that Norton isn't the culprit :).

        I shall try reinstalling.

What sound card do you have? Make sure it has the latest driver as well, not just what came with the computer...

I had the same problems with my computer. go to your bios and disable the HT. BF2 doesnt like dual processors. btw. install the dell drivers. i have an ATi 600x PC-e and game wont crash on me.
