I've played DC.

Funny story about it. I was at a LAN lockin. A friend of mine was circling outside the enemy main base in an attak heli while iw as inside the base on a tank repair pad in a tank with another friend of ours circling outside the base in another tank. We were killing them on spawn (really whorish i know, but it was fun) So a guy on the other team starts shooting and the M1 tank i was in with his SAW. I coulcn't see him because he was crouched right next to me. He finally gets up after shooting a lot and i gun him down. I hear a kid from across the lock-in yell "Who the hell is Kamikaze Watermelon(my tag). I shot his tank like 1000 times with my machine gun and it didn't blow up!" Not only would the gun have done nothing but i was also on a vehicle repair pad. That's one of my favorite gaming moments. Got some good BF42 ones too but i don't wanna do them as they have nothign to do with this thread.

Anyway, I didn't own DC myself, i couldn't play online because at the time i had 56k and when i would download it, it wouldn't install right or just wouldn't work. I would play it at lockins and friends' houses. Fun mod.

Come on now, Desert Combat is way better than BF2. Associating BF2 with DC is an insult.

In online gaming, the term is also often used as a general insult. Frustrated players on the losing team may refer to the winning team as noobs. In this case there is no actual connotation of newness meant; the word is simply being used as an insult.

By the same token, members of a dominating team may use the term "noobs" (n00bs) to further frustrate their opposition by implying a general lack of skill on the losing team's part, such as camping (staying in the general vicinity, usually a spawn point, for an extended period of time, especially America's Army and DOOM) or wastefully firing at a wall, wasting ammunition and time. Noob might also be used by veteran players to criticize cheap tactics or overusage of unbalanced weaponry.

In an online team game where friendly fire is turned off, a noob "tactic" would be to overuse explosives in cramped areas around fellow teammates. Noob usually applies in games where team-play is important, and the players choose to completely ignore the team structure and goals. Some other "noobs" are players who overly use "uber weapons" to defeat other players, players who "kill-steal" from others, and players who scam others into losing their items or money.

I am a n00b then. I am playing the Battlefield series since the first day. From Tobruk SP to Wake MP Demos right into Battlefield 1942 in a clan. From clanleader to a tournament, on to a FH Tournament, some ND between, but still Forgotten Hope. Then onto Battlefield 2. I call myself a Battlefield expert, I have been modding and mapping and know how the game works in-game and out-game, doesn't make me the best player (I ain't got so much time to play like others do), but I am n00b though I haven't played Desert Combat.

LOL, just to throw away your point. I have actually played some DC public, but never liked the croud playing it, way to much planewhoring and teamkilling going on in those days (and I didn't have time to join a clan or tournament next to my Forgotten Hope Tournament), so I skipped most of DC.
