I was hanging around on a flag that got stuck on wake Island.
Staying near the AA so I could make sure no enemy was going to raise the flag.
While I was there I spent some time on the AA there.
The other teams pilots really sucked. And we had anything that could fly on the end of the island.
So since we had the game won I thought I would do some tests.
This is what happened over and over again.
You can visually SEE an enemy aircraft just out of range, its close but no tone yet and fire at it. And the missle will head straight where you aimed it but not lock on or even acknowledge there is a heat source in front of it.
BUT, If there is a friendly aircraft within 180 degrees of that same missle...... The missle WILL make a 90 degree turn and get you some teamdamage.
If there is an enemy aircraft coming at you and you have tone but not a lock.
Again you can fire at it but it will not go after the enemy aircraft. BUT if there is a friendly anywhere near you that same missle that couldn't find an enemy aircraft directly in front of it. Fired with tone but no lock WILL find an friendly aircraft.
NOW Just what the hell was EA thinking when they coded that.
In a nut shell what it means is. If you don't have a lock on an enemy aircraft or if you miss it. All friendly aircraft then become PREFERRED targets.
Yet if you fire missles at a potential enemy aircraft that is CLOSER but you don't have a lock the missle will IGNORE the enemy aircraft AND SEEK OUT A FRIENDLY. YES.... SEEK OUT. NOT GO IN A STRAIGHT LINE, BUT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY HEAD FOR A FRIENDLY TARGET THAT YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE.
IT WILL........... SEEK OUT A FRIENDLY AIRCRAFT
wtf r u guys at ea smoking.
