    opteron 146

Any guys in the know about overclocking in here? I'd read all the hype about certain opterons with the right architecture being able to OC to higher than an fx-57 and hence why AMD have stopped producing them commercially. I was recently offered a Opteron 146 CACJE Architecture and thought it too good an offer to turn down for a knock down price. I am currently running a 3500+ 64 in a 939 socket MB (MSI Neo2 Platinum (n-force 3) with a AC 64 Freexer, OC'd to 2.4ghz, and have so far read up that it is compatible with this mobo. Essentially what i want to know is has anyone any experience with Opterons and this monstrous overclock on air?

    Many thanks

    Re: opteron 146

i have seen this chip do 3 gigs on air. it all depends on your motherboard, your ram, your cooling, and your overclocking skills.

BTW: thats a great stepping you have there, if you really want to push that chip you need to read some, check out ocforums.com
