Reinstall Woes

I just bought SF and figured with everything so far I would uninstall and reinstall fresh. I removed everything using the uninstaller and manually removed the rest (registry, folders on HD, etc.). The problem is now the game doesn't want to reinstall. I insert CD1 for bf2, select language and select install. The hourglass pops beside the pointer for 2 seconds and then it's desktop. I have let it sit for 30 minutes and still nothing. This has worked fine on reinstalls before. I changed out IDE cables thinking maybe there was an issue with my CDrom and I also installed a few other games to verify everything was working okay. I have 60 gig of HD space open and have run Defrag, Adware and Virus removal. This is fairly aggravating since I got a few rounds before I started this ordeal tonight and now I am unable to play at all. I have also rebooted in safe mode and the same thing happened. Any help provided will be greatly appreciated.

Just to add a couple other things I have tried. I rolled back drivers and also tried to install under multiple admin accounts. Still nothing.

Did you remember to remove the registry settings holding the uninstall information Windows uses to uninstall it with??
Most ppl forget that specific key and only remove the BF2 specific parts.

Registry is cleared of all BF2 entries. Would there be a particular reason why my video card would be preventing install? The supported cards lists 6600 (PCIe) but mine is AGP. I had previously installed the game on an 8500 ATI but then switched cards but the gam still ran great. Any thoughts on this?
