Single player fine. Mp crashes

My single player runs perfectly fine, however when i go to multiplayer and click join the game sounds skip a few times then crashes to my desktop. I recently reinstalled windows and only have my play disk for BF2 (others are up at school) and i really dont feel like reinstalling the game, is there anything i can do to fix this problem with leaving reinstalling out of this? or as a last resort?

ps i also have 1.2 patch if that has anything to do with it.

Post your specs. It could be the 1.2 thats causing the problem.

1.2 used to run well until early last week when my PC fizzled out on me(mobo problems)

omfg i hav the same problem... when u double click join game... it goes "squeek", everything just... freeze up, totally f'ed up. cant believe ea is not even caring about it... so many ppl has this problem! however, i dont crush to desktop (not anymore), the comp just freeze up, have to restart it!

I have exactly the same problem and have had it since I got the game for xmas. I have been fighting this for almost 3 months now and have tried everything !! I too have been messing around with all sorts of stuff to fix this and even managed to buy another copy of the game coz I thought "maybe its the CD thats fckd" The game works perfectly offline, but freezes up shortly after pressing "join" It finds 4500+ servers on the net, but nooooway am I gonna play em
I am SOOOOOO TIRED of trying to fix this, and have really NO ideas left on what to do

What kind of sound cards are you running? There is a problem with X-fi and AMD... so post hardware specs, not what kind of mouse pad you have :)

Those are my specs, please help me, my sound card is also rubbish, does this problem have anything to do with sound cards??

how can i check my virtual memory?

And yes its sound card makes game crash.

My soundcard is a SB Audigy2, but I find it hard to believe that a soundcard would have something to do with online troubles. Like I said, the game works perfect OFFline

so it wasnt the 1.2 patch because now with 1.21 it still crashes upon multiplay start up. any help or ideas??

ok... lik every 1 out of 3 games i join it freezes up. so pretty much after i click join server, i start to pray for allah hoping it would work. sometimes it froze 4 times in a row. when it freezes, i usually get mouse-not-moving when i successfully joined a server after restarting cuz of freezing.
