Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I don't know why, but I have been enormously successful with MP7 at CQB lately. It really gives off the futuristic vibe (possibly the most futuristic weapon along with F2000, considering that HL2 has it), additionally, it can spew out damage at an incredible rate, and beats the shotguns to it (in my experience)
i tried to get my hands on a mp7 (dont have sf) because of hl2 and in that game it pwned w/ a nade launcher..and basically...it sounds cool, looks cool, but doesnt work too well. Its terrible at long range..and its weak
I really like the MP7 more than the other SMG's, but I'm not sure why. I just wish that SMG rounds would do a little more damage, the fact that somone can take a 4.6 x 30 mm round to the face and live is just plain lame.
IRL the MP-7 and P-90 belong to a sort of new class of firearm that is intended to deal with the fact that in the near future most troops on the battlefield will be wearing some kind of personal armor.
These weapons take a small caliber projectile that is very low mass and propel them to incredible speeds. This allows them to practically bypass existing armor types.
The 5.7x28mm slugs fired by the P90 (the ss190 projectile type) are capable of defeating NATO CRISAT armor at 150 yards and still delivering a decent wound.
HK, who produces the 4.6mm used by the MP-7 (and the new UCP) claims superior performance to this, but I have yet to see test data.
Basically these rounds are designed with the penetration of armor first and formost, and wounding ballistics second.
For this reason multiple hits are critical to effective takedown of a threat, and this is why in reality their magazine capacities and rates of fire are so high.
I actually like the MP7 as much now as I did pre-patch. Sure, it was great at longer range fights pre-patch because it had higher accuracy and higher damage, but in CQC it really got thumped because of its lack of ammo (weaker than a G36C with a clip the same size as the G3 = bad news). Even though it's weaker now and less accurate, it's got a bigger clip and is still a fun and effective little weapon. If I'm an MEC engineer I'll use it all the time, but as USMC or PLA it's a tossup because I really like the pump shotguns.
In addendum to my prior post, I forgot to mention that the actual wounds caused by these projectiles are roughly comparable to that of a .22 magnum.
The 5.7mm is actually catching on with some in the US as a varmit load.
Still, a .22 round to the face at point blank would still take a man down. Might not kill him instantly, mind you, but he certainly would go down nontheless.
I was nervous about the change to the mp7 but now I love it all the same. In CQC, 40 round clip pretty much guarantees you will take a threat down as long as you live long enough to put enough bullets into the air. Spray and strafe. It's my favorite smg in game. And it is vindicating to take down shotgun rushers before they get close enough to fire. The only time I don't bring it is if I'm in a Saiga 12k mood.
I actually got accused of being a hacker the other day because of the rate of fire on that thing. I took out three enemy with short bursts, and the one guy starts trying to get me kicked.
