The patch 1.2 is as dissapointing as bf2 is good. It keeps crashing after say 2 mins despite numerous reinstalls clean. I am jealouse of those of you who can still play.

It is unforgivable to release a patch as unreliable, if there were not so many people complaining i would be looking at my system, but alas it is a good spec.

I will no longer be able to play from the 10th as am moving to an island without dsl.

thanks talus for your brave efforts in reviving me, i needed more than luck this time, would have prefered not to have the patch but no servers!

EA / dice i cannot malign you you brought me so much happiness that is the deal -we get to spawn one day and we must accept that one day we crash never to respawn again. Just sack the ****ing managers who turn such beauty into the beast is my dying soldiers wish, you know who they are...

are you sure it is not a driver or hardware problem? what troubleshooting steps did you do?

Toss in another vote for "It's prolly your comp".

Previous patches have given various people I know problems, but this is the first one that went in clean for everyone I know.

Note that they outsourced it this time around... there's a different company name on the installer. Prolly why it's not so stupid when looking for HD space.

Sounds like a comp issue to me......backup all, clean install windows, start again, enjoy

Had all kinds of problems, then I upgraded my video card and put in another 512K of RAM.... it's at a gig and a half now.

Bottom line = video card upgrade fixed it. Got an ATI Radeon listed on the "supported cards" thing somewhere. 9550 I think. Rig runs great now.

i got 1 gig ram and a asus v9999 nvidia card. If its a hardware thing why did it run before the patch?

Have you guys seen all the peoples problems with this patch?

i think sattelites do give great broadband but the lag is high due to a big latency so no good for gaming!

Yeah. I've also seen 42,000 online at the same time yesterday evening though.

The patch works. I understand that it must feel pretty terrible to not be able to play but if thousands can get it to work and there are more paople playing BF2 after the 1.2 patch than before you must understand that the problem is with your setup and not the patch....

I have 4 systems on my Home LAN
2 are 95% identical

three systems ran fine with patch upgrade
one kept crashing

on the bad system - I ran the FULL install
works ok now

ref: moving to island
there is a Sat system that is well known
still requires phone line for uplink

a less well know system for sat (up&DOWN)
I have no financila interest - but if you PM me
I will get you the info
if I recall
it is less than $500 setup and $50 per month
for DSL speeds (slower dsl - not the new high speed)

and yes - there probably would be high ping
