Taking a very long time to connect to account server

For somr reason it takes ages for me to connect to the account server, it didn't used to take this long, it wasn't like this straight after 1.2 either. Ive tried deleting and retreiving my account. I have broadband and regularly run spyware checks. Also for some reason whenever i click on an "option" on the menu bar such as Video options it takes ages to change to it, it didn't used to take this long at all, here are my system specs:

Compaq Presario SR1339UK
Intel pentium 4 processor 2.93ghz
512 RAM [2x256MB slots 1 and 3] DDR PC3200 184-pin
Ati Radeon X300SE 128MB
260 GB hard drive
dvd writer and dvd-rom drives

To me, it sounds like a system-wide PC or game problem and not just the Account Servers. The trick is to figure out why it's churning away looking for or trying to load files. A defrag is always cheap and can't hurt.

interesting,i uninstalled norton as my supscrition had expired (i use avg now) and it appears the problem has completely gone yay!!!

Deleting and then retrieving your account will also minimize connect time...
