How about uninstalling the Downloader, removing its files, rebooting and then reinstalling. But, if you have SF installed, I wouldn't remove the files - just uninstall and reinstall the Downloader.

I would be almost willing to bet anything that you have IE7 Beta installed. If that is the case you need to uninstall it and go back ti IE6. The Downloader seems to have problems with IE7 ATM, and only works with IE6.

i do use ie7 but i did uninstall it but could not install IE6 says your computer already has the latest version. Not sure what else to do i have reinstalled the EA downloader many times and reinstalled it. So it must be IE7 then i am not sure you even can uninstall it. How would you go about uninstalling IE7 maybe i did it wrong.

IE7 can be uninstalled, but if the uninstaller has been removed or corrupted the only way to get rid IE7 is to do a repair install or a total re-install of XP.

May not be what you want to hear, but I had to go through the same thing to get the Downloader to work.

I have the exact same problem. Its been driving me nuts. I cant uninstall IE7 beta. Why cant EA make a patch? IE7 beta has been out for months now.

How did you resolve this issue without reformating?

I just installed a new motherboard. Before when I had IE7 I was not able to get the downloader to work. Now (fresh install and no IE7) it works, downloading now.

you need to go into your add/remove programs and click on the updates tab(should be a check box), then scroll down and find IE7 beta 2 or whatever it is, and uninstall then reboot. Make sure you reinstall the EA downloader.
