Hey. I had the same problem with my BF2 DVD. You can use toothpaste to fix the surface of the cd. The deal is to swirl in one circle - around the cd, dont use little circles you'll destroy it. Good Luck

failing that ea will replace your cd's for a 'fee'

or.. (now some people frown on this but i bought every copy of bf from 42 - 2) get yersel to a site and get a 'no cd' patch, then the game boots up without the need for the cd....

i do it as i play a few games on a regular basis and cant be arsed to keep swopping cd's

however... commandos 2 still hates me and wont let me finish it... were not speaking now and ive sent all its records and clothes back in a box.

Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike is the most sensitive DVD i have ever seen. One tiny little incy wincy bit of dust and all hell breaks loose.

My BF2 disc is broken sort of but it manages to run, the centre of the disc has a crack about an inch up, and theres a few other cracks, the game case BF2 comes in from the constant putting it back in the case the middle parts where it clicks in has destroyed it.

What ID/Raven did was a good idea with Quake 4, they released the game so you have to use the disc, then they released a update so you don't have to use the disc.

            Reinstall

and then it works, or atleast it worked for me.
