    Battlerecorder not broken

What's with all this crap about Battlerecorder being broken? EVERY damn patch people start whining and complaining about it breaking the recorder and after reading around a bit people seemed pretty sure that it really was broken this time around.

It's not, I didn't believe it was really broken this time so I recorded a demo, played it back, recorded camera tracks and rendered to video all without a problem.

Honestly people, if it's not working you are doing something wrong because it works fine for me.

    WHOOOOOOOOOSH!!!!!!!

    ...

that was the sound of the concept of backwards compatibility flying over your head.

Battlerecorder files recorded with previous versions of the game will not work with the latest version.

    :p

Well, if I play on a battlefield recorder enabled server now, for example a tv2 server, and download the demo it sure wont play because..... BR is broken. EA/whatever recognized this and have said to fix this in the hotfix march 10(whenever)

I haven't tried a BFR in the new patch but from what i have heard, watching demos recorded on online servers doesn't usualy work. But in local games / single player games in sitll works fine.

          It's BROKEN.

Be commander and use the UAV first thing...then go try to play your demo.

Actually, i installed the patch, then went to single player and did demo.recorddemo test123 to see if it works (i was showing someone the concept of battlerecorder). After i did all the proper steps, i tried loading it... and for some odd reason, it all crashed to desktop. I have no idea why, since it was a demo recorded in the current patch..

I assure you i didnt do anything incorrect since i do it all the time.. The patch did something..

              Re: Battlerecorder not broken

the bottom line is demos are basically scripts in which the in-game models follow. a whole bunch of numbers tell the characters what to do. its like editing a video for instance, it has a timeline and places to be at a specific time on the timeline. EA and Dice just added the actual object that flies around inside the game. the demo does not like it and in return it crashes the whole game.

                Re: Battlerecorder not broken

Pretty simple - and its been said in 10 different threads so far - BR works IF NO UAVs ARE LAUNCHED, but crashes at the point a UAV is launched. Thats why most online and singleplayer games crash as soon as a UAV is launched. If you want to do movies you gotta go LAN or a private/clan server and make sure noone launches a UAV. Ive had emails back and forward with DICE confirming this and the patch team is working on it...

Even so, people have had problems with the BR randomly crashing since 1.12 and that couldn't be UAV related since they didn't exist in 1.12 (I'm refering to the flying UAV model obviously).

My demos get to the point where it verifies and then crashes. Anyone else have that problem?
