What firewall+anti virus do you ppl use while gaming? I use trendmicro but im wondering if it hogs alot of resources when it is on. I need to have it on at all tiems because of its protection from trojans.

Zonealarm + Avast4 pro

Allow ZA to let BF2 connect to the net and act as a server if nee be, and disable Avast's on-access scanner when I play.
works for me fine.

I don't use such things when I'm gaming. I use Kaspersky anti-virus.

Za security suite + AVG leave both on no problem here .

AVG Free Edition for the anti Virus.

And Windows Firewall for the firewall.

(I have a router so that already has a firewall built in)

Perfect for gaming.

I use McAfee internet suite, but only install AV and firewall and have them both running while playing BF2 and SF with no problems and game settings set med/high. :)

I don't run a Firewall or an Antivirus app while I'm gaming...bad juju.

maybe i should just get a router than so i can free up resources. It would **** me off if it was my trend micro internet security that is holding my pc back

Build a hardware firewall yourself. The only thing that makes sense.
Of course you could buy a hardware firewall and spend smackloads of $$$ on it...

If you really need a firewall, start doing some research, and build your own.

But please don't use a desktopfirewall as they really are not worth a whole lot.

so do you use hardware firewalls? How about routers that already have firewalls in them?
