basic questions-please help

hey all
some quick and easy questions (i am new to pc gaming, bf2 is my 1st pc fps)

-how do install a mod properly?
-which are the best mods to install?
-how do you play the mod? (start-up etc...)
-are the mod servers active all the time or is their scheduled times people play?
-are there any ranked servers for mods?


any other info/tips would be appreciated

1) Most mods come with an installer. If so just run the installer. If it does not have an installer chances are its just a folder in a zip file you downloaded. Extract that folder to your x:\xxxx\xxxx\battlefield 2\mods replace the xxx with where you installed battlefield.

2) Can't help ya there.

3) Two ways:
a) Start bf2. Login. Up top there will be a button that says community click that. Then click the custom games button that is at the top. Select the mod then click the activate button. Its towards the right side of the screen.
b) Create a shortcut. Copy the shortcut you use to launch bf2 or make a new one. add this to the target field: +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +modPath mods/XXXX
Replace the Xs with the name of the mod folder

4) Most are active all the time. Depending on where you are located geographically most players play in the evenings.

5) No Official EA Ranked servers for mods (Except expansion/booster packs. Which are just mods.) However there has been a project or two that will attempt\have in place a way to have stats for mods.
