    Re: EA Downloader ActiveX error

This happens if the Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins setting is disabled for the My Computer Zone. Follow these steps to disable the restriction.

Click Start, Run and type REGEDIT

    Navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings \ Zones \ 0

In the right-pane, double-click the value 1200 and set it's value to 0

1200 corresponds to Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins setting

Repeat the same in this registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings \ Zones \ 0

Close Registry Editor and restart Windows. Now, open Help and Support Center. The restrictions message should no longer be displayed. Note that some third-party security programs enable this restriction as a measure to protect the system from attacks

            Re: EA Downloader ActiveX error

Today I installed the EA Downloader and I had the same issue...
I solved it erasing the registry keys:

            HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults\about

            HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings\ZoneMap\ProtocolDefaults\about:

I found the solution using X-Setup Pro, disabling the flag "Restrict about: URLs", that modify the keys listed above; attached the screenshot.

            Hope it helps.
