let me say that all the pilots that are talking about how it's better to solo chopper instead of getting a gunner, your just a stat padding whore too who doesn't play the game how's it's suppose to be played. If you want to gun, gun, if you want to fly, fly, but don't take away a perfectly good seat in an attack chopper so you can pad your stats and stroke yourself about how many switch tv missles you can get.
Attack chopper function best with two people anything less and your shorting your team.. how does camping a uncappable spawn point and blasting a respawing tank with a TV missle over and over help the team? Talk about noob.. that's the most noob thing i've heard of in a long time.
That's not necessarily true. In most cases, I can do more for my team alone than I would if I was limited by a new/bad pilot/gunner: you will not understand this until you reach a certain level of proficiency. I am all about teamwork, but by flying randomly, not recognizing threats, using inappropriate weapons to engage threats or simply not using everything at your disposal, you are effectively limiting our ability to help out from the skies, which leads me back to the beginning of my post: if I can do better alone, why the hell would I bother with someone else ? I will only fly or gun for someone I know can pull his own weight in the helo. Otherwise, it's a waste.
I usually give the gunner a chance, and if he fires the machine gun at the tank, I'll go to the edge of the map and let the out of bounds kill him, and then kill the rest by myself.
Sometimes 'exploits' are what make a game good, because they add another dimension of gameplay, and they increase the learning curve.
Tribes 1 for example, there was an 'exploit' called skiing... after it was discovered, the game became 500x better.
Q2 and Q3, strafe jumping, and circle jumping were both 'exploits', but the DEV's decided to keep it in the game because it added more complexity and depth, and was a crucial skill in any quake player's arsenal.
Developers aren't perfect, and sometimes things that weren't meant to be used, are actually better than what the dev's intended.
Finally someone with some sense; excellent post.. I have have nothing wrong with competition clans finding exploits/tricks and using them in competition, as that is the name of their game.. But to then bring those exploits or tricks, into pubs and start running around like they're hot sh!t, well then there is a problem...
Competition players purposely look for every edge they can get in a game. Regular pubbers just play the game as is. If any competition player comes into a pub server or forum and starts throwing attitude about how great they are, then they have issues.. Keep that attitude for your other competition players and the competition forums..
THen yo have these competition players that get called cheats. Well, duh.. What did you think you would be called by regular pubbers when you pull off amazing shots and kills? My god, catch a clue. You shouuld be intelligent enough to understand that if you go into a pub server and pull strange sh!t off, that someone is gonna question your honesty of playing cheat free. Suck it up, you know it will happen. To come into a thread like this and slam someone and throw attitude because you were accused of cheating, makes u look stupid and immature..

If you can "kill the rest by [yourself]," why the need to be arrogant ass and TK your teammate? Does existence of a gunner somehow affect the trajectory of your rockets?
PimpHand... you're misunderstanding. I didn't say I'd rather be alone than have a gunner, I said I'd rather fly alone than have a NOOB gunner.
Most of the time, I fly with my friend, who is awesome in the gunner seat. Obviously I'd much rather have him in there, than fly myself. And once in a while, I meet a gunner who knows what he's doing, and it's all good.
But most people who get into that gunner seat have no idea what they're doing, and all they do is frustrate the hell out of me. So yeah, if there's nobody good available, I'd rather fly by myself. And why not? I can TV things from 400m away with almost 100% accuracy, not to mention TV'ing the other chopper out of the air.
I don't see how you can call that stat padding, or being selfish. It's pretty simple really:
Me + noob = we die repeatedly, and get no points, thus not helping team at all
Me + Me = I get tons of kills, and stay alive for the whole game, destroying every vehicle that gets spotted, thus helping my team immensely.
I think that it could be a 50-50 shot that he is, but I think that after seeing his stats and everything I could believe that it is on the up and up. Remember that TV are TV guided, and I have guided one from the vista point to the power station to kill a tank, on dragon valley, that a clan member was having trouble with. You can guide them a long way, and make a kill.
No prob. Good ta see someone making logical comment's 'round here.
I'm one of those guys that sees comp matches and scrims as being no-holds barred affairs, but pubs are places to simply have fun. For everyone. If someone is uber 'leet at some aspect of the game, it's my opinion that he should be doing something else in a pub most of the time.
An example would be C4 whoring, in my case. I figured out the lob 'n toss thing before it became what all the cool kids were doing. The same round I figured it, I got my explosives badge and managed to completely annoy most of the server. I thought to myself "hmm! I could really milk this", then didn't. I shelved the tactic 'cause I felt a little dirty blowing up so many noobs (and skilled players that really should have killed me).
Fast forward to a practice session shortly before 1.2 came out. We were figuring out effective anti-armour tactics. I went on a C4 rampage that managed to annoy some of our own guys...
"Gimp? WTF? What's up with the cheap tactics? You never do that!"
"Er... if we're planning on scrimming, there's no such thing as 'cheap'."

So it's not stupid and immature to accuse someone of cheating with no basis other than you suck compared to them? It is frequent players are thrown out of pubs for being accused of "hacks" and "cheating" when they are not. It is hard to pub with that kind of constant crap. So since WE took the time to LEARN the game at a higher lever we are now punished with being kicked, banned, and accused everywhere we go? I paid just as much as you did for the game bud. Might be immature to throw people down and insult them, but who threw that first accusation out there? Sure as hell wasn't us. We can only take so much of the whining.
Next time instead of whining and crying because you lack the ability maybe you should try this cool thing called "asking a question." Something along the lines of "How are you doing that?", or "What are you doing?" Seems a lot more mature then accusing people of cheating. So please save the maturity comments for the 15 year olds and the common sense talk as well. Clearly you haven't caught a clue.
