    Crashes, screeching noise

More recently BF2 has been crashing. It started to happen after long periods of playing and now i can only last about 1 min in a game until it completely freezes, and a loud screeching static like noise comes out of my speakers.

I don't really recal this happening before i got my new Sound Blaster audigy 2zs.. however it could have I am not to sure. I did disable my onboard sound in the BIOS, and installed the latest drivers for the card thinking it was the problem. Nothing has worked, uninstalling the game, updating sound a video drivers, I even tried disableing the sound card and playing, yet it still freezes.

I really want to play again, please help!

    What are your temperatures like?

Are all of the fans inside your case working?
    PSU, GPU, CPU, chassis, etc.

I have 4 case fans, all working fine.

CPU temperatures are fine usually around 60 in games, and the video card is good, i even have a fan card for it.

60 seems a bit high ... but that's just me.

What GPU do you have an what ARE your GPU temps?

Have you tried removing the Audigy 2 temporarily and seeing if the problem goes away?

You may have to use Driver Cleaner and completely re-install your Audigy 2 from the original install discs, then update to the latest beta drivers from Creative's website.

I'm running an MSI NX6600GT GPU. I have no wasy of checking its temps, software didn't come with it.

I haven't actually removed the card just completely disabled it. I will try reinstalling the card completely. Hopefully that will work.

what kind of cpu? because that's high for an AMD, but Intel's will run stable at that temp.

I'm running an intel, 3.2 Ghz.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my sound card, using the factory CD and everything. I am starting to think this may not be the problem as this did nothing.

ive had that same problem ever since the game came out....guess what.....i have had the same card as you too for that whole time....Audigy 2 ZS

i get a crashing/screeching sound, then a bsod with teh games audio from the last second looping while also screeching.

i have tried card drivers, bios updates, chipset updates, uninstall reinstall everything i can think of.

i think there may be a few Audigy 2 ZS cards that just wont run well on BF2, none of the quick fixes that used to be listed around here worked for me either.

here are my temps, i doubt they are the problem
                  CPU 31C
                  GPU 50C idle 60C load
                  system temp 33C

If you read my post about an IRQ hypothesis you will see i am expereinceing similar crash freeze and restarts. I too have an audigy 2zs sound card, that was when the issue started but not untill recent pathces has it made the game unplayable.

Anyways i wanted to know if your usb's, sound card pci slot, your video slot or any other items are shareing IRQ's that maybe suspected to influence crashes or freezes in your gaming.

I am looking for more evidence to support my hypothesis.

I have the same problem, also in Special Forces, I updated to v 1.1.2714-548.0 and it keeps crashing...

I updated my nvidea, and now I´m downloading the last update for punbuster.

I hope that all this solve the problem.... if not, reinstalling is the solution?.

                      Bye.
