    GR:AW Delayed.....til May 2006

This really suxor, I was looking forward to playing this game, soon. As it stands now this is the 3rd delay, orignal release date December 2005, March 2006 and now May 2006, if it keeps going like this Ubi may want to merge with EA/Dice, the only other gaming company who gets away with multiple lengthy delays and still has customers who keep coming back time and again. The worst part is if GRAW plays like Lockdown I might as well go bac k to GR, the original.

I'd rather have it delayed and let them get it right instead of releasing a shoddy piece of crap like the other games that have been saturating the market like X3 the reunion, Black & white 2 and others. Buying a game and having to wait for multiple patches is worse than having to wait for a game that runs good out of the box.

hah no that would be VALVe, they delay games like crazy, and still get TONS of customers, and i mean A LOT.
But yeah that sucks for anyone who really wanted it.

                1. It still hasn't reached Half Life 2 Delay proportions
                2. Nor has it reached Duke Nukem Forever proportions either. Then again, NOTHING could reach duke nukem forever proportions. Not even Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood in arms can beat that

Plus, would you rather wait and have it delayed, or have it released as crap, and then have everyone gripe and whine about how dissappointgly buggy it was? I'll play battefield 2 for a bit more and wait.

hopefully they will spend some of that time updating textures. That tree/planter looks nasty.
Edit: upon further inspection, pretty much every texture in that screenshot looks nasty

                      Re: GR:AW Delayed.....til May 2006

Mathieu Girard, the producer for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, answers questions about the PC version of the game, including the reasons for the delay of the PC launch until May.

Why do you delay the game?

To achieve better quality and deliver all the features we wanted to have in the game. GRAW PC is a project developed specifically for this machine so its development cycle was different from that of the other platforms.

Can you remind us what the main differences between consoles and PC versions are?

We have a gameplay that is very different from the gameplay of the console version; for instance the ghosts are controlled in a way that is specific to the PC, with a much more accurate order system. This involves adapting all the game content (including reprogramming completely the enemy AI) and tuning it to this way of playing. We shared the storyline and setting of the XBox 360, but all the rest had to be reworked, to appeal to a GR1 audience while at the same time taking into account the new PC specific features. The other major differences are, of course, full first person control, and PC-specific multiplayer modes.

What are the ambitions of the PC version?

We had some very ambitous designs for the multiplayer, and we did not advertise on the exact content until we were sure to be able to deliver it. Things such as simulating a fully interactive physical environment over the network were risky, but we are now comforted that the cooperative mode will deliver unprecedented experience of multiplayer gameplay. The domination mode is also very promising as it changes the control of areas to something more interesting than simply capturing flags. More info to come soon.

Well considering this game is actually Ghost Recon 2 revamped, so actually it ranks up there with big game delays. And you are right about HL2, it got delayed what a year? If RedStorm/UBI pulled that crap they would lose all of their customer base. Software Dev's need to join us in reality. I waited soo long for HL2 that when it dropped I kinda played it, but not with the same intensity. I just hope Ubi didn't hump the bunk on this one.
