WTF is Vanilla BF2?

I have been hearing talk of both Vanilla BF and SF. so my only question is what the hell is Vanilla BF2?

Vanilla = BF2
SF = Special Forces
EF = Euro Forces
AF = Armoured Fury

Then why not just call it what its called. BF2 sounds reasonable or even Battlefield 2 or the 1st edition or even that other game everyone still plays cause SF sucked so bad.

Any of those are good.

Mods can significantly outshine or continue the success of the original game. Playing a mod might even become more common than playing the unmodded original. When talking about playing a game, players might have to clarify that they are referring to "vanilla Battlefield 1942", for example.

I always thought that "vanilla BF2" came from the swedish word "vanliga BF2" which means "regular BF2".

Vanilla has been used in this way for a while now...as things come in various 'flavours' and vanilla is what most people feel is the most basic of all ice cream flavours (chocolate lovers will disagree ).

Vanilla means straight out of the box or otherwise BF2 V1.0 without any patches or mods
